I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I’m curious about something. I’ve seen there’s a big debate about multiple communities for similar content on different instances, and whether they should coalesce into a single community or remain as multiple communities. I also saw a post about linking sibling...
I thought about this already for a while and with Lemmy and Mastodon the opensource community has a place to really try itself out and coordinate. Then even things like open-source planning-systems (like at Amazon) and AIs are possible....
I recently made a new account on lemmy.blahaj.zone, because I’ve been harassed and doxxed on my old account and I wanted a fresh start with a more lighthearted online identity that I could be more open about my gender identity on. I’d heard blahaj zone was good for trans people, so I made my account there. And yeah,...
I’m using the Test Flight beta app, curious on others’ overall experience with the platform so far. I never had an Instagram account so I’m not really sure yet what I even want from it. I’m just excited on all things Fediverse and I’m happy to be part of the growing numbers....
Sometimes I struggle to convey what continues to fascinate me about dezentraly organized social media - its like explaining to someone who never played Go why its awesome who never played it....
I do not know whether anybody else has already said this, but Lemmy could really use a feature that would allow individual users to block instances. I think it could have spared some of the defederation word wars that have been going on lately, since that would be an individual choice rather than a collective one....
Make only each account’s 5 most recent upvotes effect post rank. In effect this would make vote sellers need to make many more accounts to be useful, they would need to churn upvotes....
Here’s the thing. I’m a mod for a small-time community for a niche interest, !castles I’m also on Mastodon, and was before my Reddit exodus. I follow #castles as well as a few other related topics on Matsodon, so I get quality toots, such as this: mastodon.scot/, that I wish I could just crosspost over to my community....
I was wondering if there was a community where admins of different instances got together and chat in general about decisions for how they run their instances....
I’m envisioning a hypothetical future where, alongside competing with platforms like Reddit/Twitter/Instagram/etc, federated platforms compete with retail or service-providing platforms like Amazon, Uber, Fiverr, Airbnb, etc, platforms that primarily just serve to connect users to other users and handle transactions between...
I’ve been on Lemmy for some time now and it’s time for me to finally understand how Federation works. I have general idea and I have accounts on three federated instances, but I need some details....
I was looking for a place to share my two favorite Mastodon and Lemmy clients, they are called Voyager Connect Boost for Lemmy and Moshidon for Mastodon (if you are really serious about privacy I recommend Connect still) (the official Mastodon app works fine though, you just can’t follow new hashtags from it)...
