Do you folks use Amazon a lot, and if yes, then why? If no, then what alternatives do you prefer?

I’ll start - I don’t shop a lot, but if I had to buy stuff like hardware parts, I do use Amazon sometimes, but if I can, then I try to use Flipkart. Realizing how it has turned into a monopoly, I try to look for alternative websites, and check if they’re trustworthy....

I would check out your laptop, especially if it’s somewhat new. I have one that is dual booting from an M.2 NVMe drive and a SATA SSD. Even if it didnt, I have easy panels that pop off when I wanted to swap.

The tragedy here is that you had to make a screenshot to then upload to Mastodon, only later to come here and have to point out where the original post is. It would be great if you could have made the post on Mastodon simply by linking to the original post and then the format would have looked just as good as the screenshot, and then both sides of the Fediverse could converse. Or, the opposite could happen.

I’ve talked about this kind of thing before lemm.ee/post/4955936 and some are confident this is how things will eventually end up, so I hope they’re right.

I am Ganesh, an Indian atheist and I don’t eat beef. It’s not like that I have a religious reason to do that, but after all those years seeing cows as peaceful animals and playing and growing up with them in a village, I doubt if I ever will be able to eat beef. I wasn’t raised very religious, I didn’t go to temple...

Yeah, even though I went on a mission and have tons of family from Utah/AZ/Nevada/Cali, I’m on the East Coast so a lot of LDS culture like that didn’t sink in. I would honestly probably participate in ex-mo stuff more if I had to deal with it on a daily basis, but I’m fine mostly pretending it doesn’t exist!

Here’s the thing. I’m a mod for a small-time community for a niche interest, !castles I’m also on Mastodon, and was before my Reddit exodus. I follow #castles as well as a few other related topics on Matsodon, so I get quality toots, such as this: mastodon.scot/, that I wish I could just crosspost over to my community....

Even in its prime, Tumblr was never profitable. It was sold and resold to several companies who never had a clear vision for what to do with it, other than run ads to generate revenue. Its main draw was its users. For several years it was the social media platform for LGBTQ and fandoms, along with many niche interests....
