As of right now, you can follow either Lemmy accounts directly or follow Lemmy communities from Mastodon relatively easily if you know what you are searching for. This is really cool because you can read (and participate to !) discussions without having tu use a Lemmy-specific app or account. The wonders of the fediverse !...
First off before we get into this I want to make clear that I’m not just throwing shade at the specific instance involved, and I’d also like to avoid focusing on the specific content of thread. I think this is a larger issue that warrants an open discussion, this could have happened with any other instance on a wide variety...
TL;DR: The internet’s evolution mirrors historical societal development. Transitioning from web2 to the social web and ultimately to web4 signifies a transformative shift akin to the end of the Middle Ages and the dawn of modernity, with the ultimate goal of achieving liberal democracy. In the style of the Dot Com Boom, the...

You can define success any way you like. But I'm happy with the direction of the project, and I'm thankful for everyone who has helped make it happen.
It seems like just recently, everything broke. Posts from some other instances (Lemmy 0.19 or kbin) aren’t showing up here reliably anymore, and then sometimes posts from a few days ago will suddenly show up. kbin.social has a banner talking about unusual “problems” without going into detail....

Are there any technical/performance reasons why I couldn’t create an instance for myself and host a Plex server off of the same machine at home?...

I just mistakenly made a comment on my post on lemmy.world and while it shows deleted on jerboa (up to date app) I can see it on eternity and attempts at deleting say delete failed (not up to date) but more importantly I can view the comment from my main too....
This would make me sad. 😢...

Just a headsup for any server admins running Firefish, apparently it is no longer being maintained. One of the core developers of Firefish has written about the situation in the link provided.
Out of curiosity I went to exploding-heads.com and it looks like it’s not working anymore. Is there a new place they hang out now? Are they undercover on the regular servers or something? It’d be a little surprising to me if they all just gave up on being active on the Fediverse.
