Fake problems in order to get in on all this fake inflation bullshit. All these capitalist pigs raking people over the coals for record profits under the entirely fabricated “inflation” crisis. SSD manufacturers want to get theirs too.

This is the prep/hype phase where they spread fake news to get the consumers prepped for surgery. None of it is real.

I deleted my account there. I honestly didn’t get it. Lots of cult or personality posters who are desperate to be influencers. It’s exactly like Twitter except with tons of furries.

I have a Pixel Fold and I hate it. It’s heavy, almost no third party apps are compatible with the square aspect ratio of the inner screen, and when you consume media there are massive black borders due to said aspect ratio that makes the viewable space the same as a regular phone. There’s literally no point to these things.

I see why Apple never jumped on board. I can’t wait until August when I can get rid of this damn phone.

What is this “reading” you’re referring to and what even is “an article” anyway?

Dating in your 40s is like routinely checking the fridge for food but finding nothing. You know nothing is in there, but you keep looking for some reason.

jezebelley3d ,
@jezebelley3d@lemmy.zip avatar

As a woman I have plenty of choices they just all kinda suck. My fridge is full of purple stuff and no Sunny D.

Unfortunately I’m far from CO or I’d be taking you up on that.

I’ll just go with the 1080p/60 version for now. Maybe I can hack something together in WINE down the line. Heh it rhymes.

Definitely doesn’t feel that way for me. Might have to do with hand shape/size/thumb length/etc…

jezebelley3d OP ,
@jezebelley3d@lemmy.zip avatar

Pop_OS has a firmware updater built in! Already updated all of it.

jezebelley3d OP ,
@jezebelley3d@lemmy.zip avatar

Yep it’s the MX Ergo by Logitech. I prefer the thumb style tracks for whatever reason. I’ve been using them for decades.

I have to say that I’m unreasonably excited to get this Lemur Pro.

It makes my hand happy.

I'm returning my Lenovo laptop that gave me tons of compatibility issues and getting this Dell XPS 13 instead. Thoughts? (www.bestbuy.com)

I’m going with this Dell and returning my Lenovo Slim 7 Pro. In my previous thread saying I switched to Windows I read that Dells offer great compatibility. I ordered this Dell XPS 13 and plan on going with Pop OS. Thoughts on this? Good choice?...

jezebelley3d OP ,
@jezebelley3d@lemmy.zip avatar

I can finance through Best Buy via their credit card which is why I’m going with the Dell.

jezebelley3d OP ,
@jezebelley3d@lemmy.zip avatar

I ordered a docking station to provide a HDMI 2.1 port and some more USB options along with an Ethernet port.

jezebelley3d OP ,

Sometimes when people are given suggestions for things to try they actually take them into consideration. I know this is highly usual these days as people only want to constantly argue online, but I legitimately take advice to try new things.

Some people in that thread gave me ideas to have less headaches with Linux, so I’m going to try them out.

jezebelley3d OP ,
@jezebelley3d@lemmy.zip avatar

Dell laptops like the XPS 13 and 15 are recommended on many compatibility lists including the official Ubuntu certification page. Not only do they look fantastic but they are highly compatible with Ubuntu which is what drew me. The whole point of my purchase was compatibility remember.

jezebelley3d OP ,
@jezebelley3d@lemmy.zip avatar

Partly because of you I ended up returning the Dell XPS 13 and getting a System 76 Lemur Pro instead ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ💻

jezebelley3d OP ,
@jezebelley3d@lemmy.zip avatar

I love how easy it is to replace things on System76 machines. They have a website which shows the internals and repair/replacement process for every model and generation of their computers.

jezebelley3d OP ,
@jezebelley3d@lemmy.zip avatar

I ended up getting a System 76 laptop. The Lemur Pro to be exact.

jezebelley3d OP ,
@jezebelley3d@lemmy.zip avatar

I hope to try it again someday. Maybe with my next laptop I’ll get something built for Linux to ensure compatibility. Probably the best bet for newbies who want no undue fussin’.

jezebelley3d OP ,
@jezebelley3d@lemmy.zip avatar

Look I enjoy troubleshooting to some extent, but at the end of the day I want my hardware to work as it should. Linux is incredibly fun to play around with but when I needed my computer for basic stuff I kept running into these obnoxious little quirks that would take me hours of research to correct. Wore me down.

Definitely this. I’m a total newb when it comes to the CLI. I’m tech savvy but Linux is a whole other universe that I’ve never been exposed to until recently. The online resources to fix stuff are relatively robust and the community is great. At the end of the day I was worn down by too many minor issues piling up and stressing me out.

It’s in the link I posted.

I tried that TLP app, but the options were overwhelming. I had no idea how to configure it properly.

jezebelley3d OP ,
@jezebelley3d@lemmy.zip avatar

I tried Manjaro, Fedora, and Mint.

jezebelley3d OP ,
@jezebelley3d@lemmy.zip avatar

I’ve tried KDE, Cinnamon, and GNOME. GNOME is definitely my favorite as well. The left & top taskbar layout is incredibly charming to me for whatever reason.

jezebelley3d OP ,
@jezebelley3d@lemmy.zip avatar

I was dual booting as well because GeForce NOW doesn’t have a Linux app.

jezebelley3d OP ,
@jezebelley3d@lemmy.zip avatar

That’s what I was thinking I’d grab in the future. I’ve read about System 76 a few times now.

jezebelley3d OP ,

I’ll have to give Pop OS a try when I’m ready to jump back in.

jezebelley3d OP ,

Thank you!

Latest Fedora Workstation volume slider doesn't do anything.

I can adjust the slider up and down for the volume in the tray, but it stays at 100%. I tried using Pulse Audio to adjust as well, but it has the same problem. It’s the family 17h/19h HD Audio Controller. When I use HDMI audio output all works as it should, it’s just the internal laptop speakers that will not adjust. Anyone...

2023 and talking about deplatforming nazis is controversial. This is where we’re at, folks.

Switched from Manjaro to Fedora after being told Manjaro is "a bad distro" by many. Looking for a telnet terminal such as Syncterm to run on rpm or flatpak. (lemmy.zip)

Welp, I made a similar thread yesterday regarding Manjaro but I decided to swap to Fedora as my daily driver for stability purposes. Unfortunately since fedora is yet another non Debian distro I need help finding a Syncterm replacement....

Duckduckgo is not only privacy centric but now it has better results than Google. Google is floundering in every area of their business lately. Pixel phones still have a very small niche share of the market, their search is garbage, chat gpt is a better AI than bard by miles, and their productivity suite is just as readily replaced by libreoffice or office 365.

The only thing Google has anymore is YouTube.

jezebelley3d ,

They’re still a very niche device with the largest adoption in Canada at only ~5%. statista.com/…/popularity-of-google-smartphones/
