After singing up for Tumblr and being sad that they’re not yet (and might never) federate with Activitypub I started digging around fedidb.org and found out about micro.blog....
There have been multiple accounts created with the sole purpose of posting advertisement posts or replies containing unsolicited advertising.
Accounts which solely post advertisements, or persistently post them may be terminated.

The last bit sounds a lot like an advertisement for Lemmy ^^

This new version introduced a system so that your instance stops sending out content to other instances that are supposedly dead / offline....
Looks very similar in terms of both timing and pings to what happened to lemmy.world in recent days, they could be targeted by the same attackers....

I get the impression that we’re headed for the same issues that pop up when we put all our eggs in one basket with Reddit/FB/whatever. People flock to the largest instance, and someday that instance could go down due to cost or the host losing interest....
All the posts about Reddit blocking everyone except Google and Brave got me thinking: What if SearNGX was federated? I.E. when data is retrieved via a providers API, that data is then federated to all other instances....

Just a headsup for any server admins running Firefish, apparently it is no longer being maintained. One of the core developers of Firefish has written about the situation in the link provided.
Screenshot was taken on lemmy.ml, but icon is not displayed on lemmy.world either -> there is no dependence on the lemmy version.
Which do you think is the better microblogging platform? Why?
