Ian Fraser Kilmister (24 December 1945 – 28 December 2015), better known as Lemmy Kilmister or simply Lemmy, was an English musician. He was the founder, lead singer, bassist and primary songwriter of the rock band Motörhead, of which he was the only continuous member, and a member of Hawkwind from 1971 to 1975.
The idea is you can subscribe and interact with any instances, no matter what instance you came from
Sure, most will jump the bandwagon into lemmy.world… at least for the near future. I can say that with confidence because when you search “how to join Lemmy”, most guide will point you to Lemmy.world instead of… lets say… coughLemmynsfwcough
Over time, some will eventually move to other instance (mostly just the account, because they want ‘cool username’ for themselves). Sooner or later, things will balance themselves out.
Maybe you can even start by deploying your own instance, for no other reason than claiming your own ‘cool username’.
You literally son of your father, yet, you are not your father.
Does kbin follows new versions of lemmy? If yes, then it would be the same. If no, then both lemmy and kbin have common ancestor, and yet they are different, and as time goes on, the differences will be more and more. The common part is the protocol and the fediverse.
It only really matters for the “local” feed which instance you choose. I don’t really see much point to that one honestly, except if you’re on something like startrek.website where “local” is “show me all star trek stuff”, or something similar.
And yes, it is important to spread out the user base across multiple servers and not all end up on lemmy.world.
So I’d say find some smaller instance, maybe with a community actually physically local to you, and make that your main one. Or don’t and stay on lemmy.world, I’m not your dad.
I say putler spent years and all his toilet paper to steal deepfake IA just in order to fake prigozhin voice for that moment because of course everything was planned years in advance when prigozhin made a mistake in putler order at his restaurant 😏
I would have left the trees alone, but removed the grass and covered it with small black and grey stones. That way the trees would still look nice, and the rain water can still pass through the rocks and prevent flooding, unlike this mess. This looks like a business now, it’s not a home anymore.
Yah, that doesn’t work that way. Water needs to get pulled into plants or water channels created by dead plant root systems, or it just runs off. This is why deserts have flash floods.
Yeah I just found out about this project/the fediverse, been looking for several weeks for the best replacement to Reddit and this is by far the most promising. Also, as a self-hosting enthusiast, I’m liking this place more and more by the minute. With any luck increased visibility will continue to push activity & content. Power to the people.
