lurch , to linux in Gnome Power Notifications

You mean it’s missing in this app list? Aren’t they added when an app shows a notification for the first time?

enviousCardinal OP ,

yeah, power is supposed to be there as an entry in this list; it’s there when you do a full install. so I didn’t install something. searched dnf for anything resembling notifications, power, etc., and compared it to a full install, came up short.

so once that thing appears there, I can disable lock screen notifications so that my screen isn’t turned on before it gets suspended.

This feels like what Fear and Loathing would have been like if they were more into (slash had knowledge of) dissociatives.

Edit: I guess ether is close, but it’s still nothing like a good k-hole or DXM trip.

tiefling , (edited ) to asklemmy in To those with 2+ monitors on your machine: What's your use case, and how much does it actually boost your productivity?

I’m a FE and A11y focused SWE

Laptop screen: IDE / main browser

Main monitor: terminal with dev server, and browser to localhost

I wish I could have a small, third monitor for just the terminal but my Mac struggles with one extra monitor. I also tend to work at 150% zoom because of terrible eyesight, so I don’t actually have that much screen real estate.

Every fucking day I have three companies email me to order pizza, usually within fifteen minutes of each other.

Illegal immigrants deserve more then 35k. Those people are getting away from the worst places imaginable with nothing to their names

I never EVER take it for granted that I don’t hate Mondays, count the days to Friday, or loathe my work day.

Next to a great family, it’s the ultimate life win. I’m not sure I deserve it and I’m humbled to have it.

KeepFlying , to asklemmy in To those with 2+ monitors on your machine: What's your use case, and how much does it actually boost your productivity?

Two and a half monitors here. Two connected to my desktop (one normal one vertical) and my laptop below them.

My laptop is for Teams calls, and the occasional reference page or video, but is mostly ignored until I need it. The main large monitor for editors and email. The vertical one for references and notes.

I would love a third monitor for the desktop but my desk is too narrow for that to be realistic.

neonred , to lemmyshitpost in Intrusive thoughts

It’s just unnecessary. If you can’t control yourself from harming others, animals or things, there is work to do.

I am not saying one can not have the thoughts of doing the wildest or weirdest things. Thoughts about options are okay but having an urge to commit diametral actions or even performing them seems somewhat pathologic to me.
