Incoming user from reddit! My app got shut down. I was salty about it so I decided that I was going to find an alternative, rather than use the official app, and I found lemmy! I like the community vibe so far. I’m still figuring out how different communities and instances work together with federating. I was always more of a lurker on reddit, but I might try to become a more active commenter (for community engagement!)
I believe they changed how they payout to streamers, essentially cutting their income by around 25% and then keeping it for themselves. Also stricter rules on sponsorships and how they are advertised on your stream. I don’t really know the details I don’t use twitch just what I remember reading.
Are there perks aside from just avoiding their extra fees? I remember last time I was at AMC they added a charge on at the snacks when I said I wasn’t a member
They don’t add extra charges for not being a member for snacks. You get free upgrades and get a special line for concessions. So worth it if you get concessions normally ever, not if you don’t. I think they also have another tier up that gives you 3 movies/month but I have no idea what that costs.
I’ve only been here for two weeks and already have seen major improvements. Thankful to the admins for their hard work, and glad to see the wonderful people here contributing to this platform’s awesome growth. Loving it here and wishing continued success to the fediverse :)
I would have left the trees alone, but removed the grass and covered it with small black and grey stones. That way the trees would still look nice, and the rain water can still pass through the rocks and prevent flooding, unlike this mess. This looks like a business now, it’s not a home anymore.
Yah, that doesn’t work that way. Water needs to get pulled into plants or water channels created by dead plant root systems, or it just runs off. This is why deserts have flash floods.
I wonder if it tries to save a cookie then read it back? I don't really know how any of this works but that sounds like a way to detect it that's fairly infallible.
Can we make up our minds, please?
In the 90s-2000s we had these shaded, almost 3D icons everywhere. Then we transitioned to a flat, minimalist style.
Give us something new and exciting instead of capitalizing on “retro nostalgia”
The 2000’s were very…amorphous. Like, remember the Cingular Wireless blob dude? Or the MusicMatch logo? Not the black and white jagged thing, the orange blob and blue bigger blob? And how all personal electronics were strange plastic shapes painted silver and purplish-blue? And the world hadn’t gone insane yet?
I know people in the swim community who do this somewhat regularly (though usually the other way — Alcatraz to Aquatic Park).
There are big organized events (e.g., Alcatraz Invitational) as well as privately organized events. Given shipping lanes and the bay’s tides, it’s definitely not advisable to swim it without support in a boat, and ideally, radio contact with vessel traffic.
Yeah, 600/800 sounds like a lot until you realize that includes all the stuff you’re just scrolling past in your feed or comments, not even clicking on. I wouldn’t be surprised if they even overlooked the fact that ads might count against that cap too. I’m no heavy user but hit that cap in less than 20 minutes of reading people reacting to the news.
