You may not notice federation lag, where comments don’t appear in your instance for some time in comparison to their native or a more populous instance.
Afaik the only way to tell is to pull up the same thread from different origin instances and compare.
A post I made on lemmy.world has an order of magnitude more upvotes when viewed from Lemmy.world compared to when viewed from another instance. Beyond annoying
I think there’s a short delay. But still that would be on the server hosting the post being overloaded. I’m not 100% familiar with how the protocols work. But when I look at top day from sh.itjust.works vs from Lemmy.world the numbers are the same in my feed. So It must not be a major difference in most posts.
Could also be because of an update not being rolled out to one of the servers. Just a guess.
I had nearly the same reaction! Assumed it was Lemmy as well but on a specific app. Hopped in the comments to figure out which one to avoid, very relieved it’s one that I’m already not using.
Research based education standards are light-years away from what we choose to do, because what we choose to do is based on 19th century attempts to industrialize. Meaning getting kids used to being away from extended family, stuck in a seat for hours, rote memorization, and regurgitation of whatever you’re told.
School never taught me how to actually live and function in society.
Guess what? I ended up poor and going to jail. Guess what? It was the same thing as school only depressed adults, more desperate. Many of the people were kind and just. Good people. They were just institutionalized and thats really sad, on a personal level for me. The way that they carry themselves was heartbreaking to me. I’m very privileged to even sit here and have a good conversation with you.
Some androids can actually do that. I have a phone with a 28 hour battery life on a full charge. That’s not what it says on the box, that’s me measuring it with real-world usage. For me, 15% means “get me a charger in a couple hours or so, and we’re good”.
So many phones these days have terribly small batteries for what is basically a computer in your pocket. With android I have a choice at least, so I chose an absolute unit of a device with a 13,200mAh battery that lasts an entire week before I plug it in.
what really makes me sick is – these fucking people are completely devoid of any taste or pride or care. it looks like absolute fucking garbage and they do not care; they’re wealthy beyond belief WITH OR WITHOUT destroying reddit, but still, they must.
It would be better if those users were more dispersed across more similarly moderated instances, but it is for sure a good thing that the threadiverse is expanding
