I was thinking yay that sounds like an awesome data visualization platform, that would be great. Until I got to the “just kidding” part.
You are right, all this information is readily available. And we would be really naive if we think that no one is collecting this yet.
You, or someone else, should build this, such that it is clearly visible for everyone what data is available. And not just visible to the select few who builds their own closed data mining systems.
This would be a pretty bad idea. Not only are companies going to steal all the data from that site, but its going to lead to people going through every user’s history to block people who don’t have the same “color politics” as them. Its going to lead to hyper echo chambers, even worse than other social platforms.
I think it would be better if this data is obfusicated even from instance admins. Does this present a bigger challenge in identifying malicious users? Probably, yes. However, it protects the Fediverse first and foremost from the vampire companies stealing consumer data, and protects the Fediverse from becoming the loudest echo chamber on the planet.
Differing opinions, viewpoints, and politics are important to genuine discussion. These “color politics” don’t have to even be part of the discussion to influence what people say. I don’t know about you, but being in a thread where people only ever agree with me and offer no alternative ideas is not a place I want to spend a lot of time in. Because who knows, maybe my ideas are wrong, and I might (shudder), change my mind.
Hey, I completely agree with you, in that the most interesting discussions are among groups where I don’t agree with everyone. This is where I learn and grow as a person.
But in saying that, aren’t you also saying that some people, like you and me, would not use such a database to filter out the users we do not agree with?
And would it not be a logical conclusion to make, that people who likes to build and stay in their echo chambers, would not be more inclined to listen to different opinions just because they don’t have a more efficient tool to sort out people they disagree with?
What I am saying is, all information that is technically available will be collected and analysed. Better make a public and open platform showing everything, such that everyone can see exactly what can be collected and surmised from the already public information, than to keep users blind from what information they actually leak publically.

I heard that child Tolkien told his mother he’d “written a story about a green, great dragon” and when his mum told him it had to be a “great, green dragon” he was so put off that he didn’t write again for years.
That’s interesting! I’ve heard aussies refer to that campaign/guideline a lot and I’ve always heard it as “slip slap slop”, which follows the rule but doesn’t make sense as the order of activities. I don’t know whether they reverted to the vowel order when talking casually, or if they said it right and I subconsciously ‘corrected’ it in my memory.
UK government has been taken over by WhatsApp and Twitter - our official inquiries have to beg for access to WhatsApp to see what’s going on in gov. Love to see them switch - they could have more control of data retention and promote innovation.
It’s along the lines of tuner / or like vaultdweller said tinkerer. The name is from late 90’s. It started as World of Tweaking when overclocking and tuning your pc was seen as destroying your hardware and hacking the plannet (31337 H4X0R).
Site started somewhere 1997 and 1999 or so. By now it’s a very common site in the Netherlands to check hardware and software related stuff, especially since every computer related shop has a presence in the pricewatch the website offers for the Dutch and Belgian market.
The website is extremely comparable to Tom’s Hardware website.
HP Smart is complete ass lmao. I have an HP laser printer that prints well, but it’s always a headache to start printing anything wirelessly from my laptop. Can only ever rely on the ol’ USB cable.
I am really confused, becuase HP Smart Scanner takes like 2-3 min to Scan a page, GNOMs build in Scanner takes 3-5 seconds with the same printer. Like how is your software this bad.
HP Smart does suck, although the cheap HP printer/scanner we picked up in 2020 for home schooling has been pretty reliable. A couple of the colour nozzles clogged after an extend period without use, but it’s on the £1 a month cartridge rental so I just kept re-running the cleaning cycle until it worked again.
Do what I do, go to a local butcher. Equivalent price now, and you can order exactly the amount you need. And it’s significantly better quality too.
I’m lucky that I live a five minute walk from a street with a grocers, fishmonger, bakery, butchers and an independent world food shop. I can get precisely the ingredients I need, no wastage, and, know they’re fantastic quality and not pay a penny more than I need to.
I ended up finding labels for meat at the butchers and it’s mostly European meat!! Very worrisome considering they’ve been a local fully British butchers for many decades! Their chicken breasts, and sausages, including their steak mince comes from Eastern Europe. They used to prepare all those meats (except the chicken, but it was still local). Much more expensive for less meat from questionable, unknown sources, let alone ethical.
Recently our food regulators also found a lot of our pork was being adulterated with illegal, rotten foreign meat and had entered shops here on a supermarket scale… Just, wtf, how can the UK not maintain our food standards? I don’t want us going the same route as the United States.
Supermarket meat quality seems to fluctuate quite a lot at the moment, but it’s getting worse. Chicken especially…
Meat despite the premium price has been a treat for me, but lately I’ve been put off it.
Tesco, Lidl, Aldi, Asda, all just plummeting in value.
If it’s anything like what “All” shows me, it will be mostly furries, sissies, anime, and 196 with just a splash of conservative. Unless you block it, Lemmy got some weird shit yo.
In my experiemce The Hell 2 has a visual glitch in Linux during the opening menus where they are all black. Judging from your screenshot and report of hearing audio you might be seeing the same thing - but in that case you mighy already be to the point where the game is playable.
Despite the black screen try interacting with the buttons with the mouse? Does the screen redraw itself in the vicinity of the mouse as you move it? If so, try to navigate the menu to start a new game.
Lol! I managed to start the game, and it seems that everything works fine. However, the screen does not redraw itself, unfortunately. I was only able to start a new game by pressing the arrow keys and enter. But, of course, I can’t create a proper character like this…
