Unrelated, but this fellow also has made scripts for activating Internet Download Manager. Less crack hunting from now (although cs.rin.ru and Lrepacks provide safe ones).

Okay, I’m dumb. I’ve never used this. It seems it’s a script. How safe is it? How exactly does it work? (i want to try it out lol)

olicvb ,
@olicvb@lemmy.ca avatar

This is to activate windows, so if your windows is already activated you probably dont need it.

Anyway, essentially you run the script in powershell and select the activation you want, currently option 1 is the new one from this post and should permanently activate windows.

Should be safe afaik, i’ve read that MS employees themselves use this script if their own tools fail. I’ve certainly never had an issue with it, but again they could have installed some spying software and i would be none the wiser. Gotta pray the github wizards audited it for us

Is this common in America? To choose toppings separately?

Here in Brazil we choose from a list of “flavors”, like margherita, pepperoni, portuguese, a moda, chicken and Catupiry, things like that

ilinamorato ,

We have that too. At some pizza places they’re called “speciality pizzas.” But almost every pizza restaurant also lets you make your own by choosing ingredients individually; they’re priced by number of toppings, with one sauce and cheese being included in the base price.

My wife actually discovered that this is pretty much just a North American thing a while back, incidentally. She lived with some Europeans and a Japanese person for a little while during college, and they were all shocked at the North American pizza ordering process.

brianorca , (edited )

It became more common when they started getting most orders from the web page, but even before that, over the phone you could order whatever toppings you want. (They just didn’t advertise all the options back then.) They also gave the option of different toppings on left and right to keep a family happy when they have different tastes. And since it’s now on a web page, they don’t have to spend time on the phone while you explain it to them.

But even back in the 90’s, my dad ordered a pizza with half no cheese. (He still had the sauce though.)

until i figured out i could rip them to mp3s and put them on a stick. usb plugs on car stereo was a revolution

Gmusic would let you upload 128 and dowdload w/e their default was, 256kb? i’ve got thousands …google.com/…/1hMU9Pc2bQADGj76FNb7ZovgoU7vMXVvS?u…

bufordt ,

Yep, first did my entire cd collection to 256k ogg vorbis files. Then went back and reripped them to flac, used musicbrainz Picard to tag everything and just did conversations to mp3 so my car stereo could play them.

Now I’m about to go back through my dvd/blueray collection and do full rips without transcoding.

Globulart ,

How would one go about doing this? I’ve been maintaining my bluray collection because I want my favourite films always available but I haven’t tried to rip anything in over a decade and I think I did it badly even then.

A software recommendation would be brilliant. Cheers.

bufordt ,
@bufordt@sh.itjust.works avatar

MakeMKV is what I’ve been using.

If you want to rip 4k blueray you have to do a bit more work, like buying one of a few specific drives, and possibly flash open source firmware on it.

Globulart ,

1080p is fine for me. That’s great, thanks mate :)

yeah but discs were a lot cheaper if you bought them in bulk without the cases.
