Programming questions for beginners (kbin.social)
I'm currently working on learning r programming to use at work. Is there a good place whereI can ask for answers to the issues I'm running into that I cannot find by just searching online.

So I have two coworkers who I want to help out with a problem. They have to collaborate on upgrades in a old factory, and they both use the same excel spreadsheet to keep track of the to-do list....
So, while this is not exactly a typical "self-hosting" question as many users might not be using domains, I would be curious if anyone else has any experience with this....
Calcurse why didn't you guys tell me about calcurse!...

So I'm in the process of (re-) setting up my homelab and unsure about how to handle databases. Many images require a database, which the docker-compose usually provides inside the stack....
It took several weeks but I finally got my Reddit data export for my account. If it wasn't already obvious, the direct messages there are not encrypted in any meaningful way. One interesting variable I found was in the file named "statistics", there's a variable named "is_deleted" which is set to false. This makes me wonder if,...
A problem many have realized is that there are many /tech, /gaming etc. communities in different instances/servers. There is already https://fediverse.observer/ , so I think it wouldn't be too hard to make a service that periodically roams the fediverse, checks for example the last 100,000 submissions of each (or top 100 active...
Is it the age of the game? Is it the generation of the console you play on? Is it a combination of the two?...
Hi, as it’s in my title. I’m looking for narrative driven games with good story, something I can play on my steam deck. Not something open open world but more of a on rails experience....
I have been trying to avoid Reddit. However, I still often end up being forced to click on a link to a post while searching for something specific. It is a hassle to manually change the link to libreddit or teddit everytime....
Shout-out to my sisters and brothers-in-arms!...
I'm looking for a wiki solution (either remotely hosted or self-hosted is fine) that takes Markdown input....
When we sleep, we are technically half-dead. So, wouldn't it be safe to say that everyone currently living has died many times?
Is there any way to have SHIFT + CTRL + - create an em dash in Pop_OS?...
I have a private @gmail and a business @company.com (also via gmail), which I heavily rely on. Due to a recent data-leak somewhere, I'm now receiving unstoppable spam on my @gmail, and decided to set up a new account on proton and ditch @gmsil in favor of @example.com. I came across SimpleLogin, and thought that I could use that...
Looking for more games like Pokemon TCG for Gameboy or Slay the Spire. Games that are in essence TCG but aren't caught up with simulating the gambling of opening packs.
FAQs and info included on the linked post
I got my first Oneplus phone earlier this year and the fast charging is such a nice convenience. I thought it'd just be a gimmick I wouldn't care about, but its something I take advantage of basically everyday....
(As part of the Reddit migration, any time I'm only able to find info on Reddit, I'm reposting it to kbin/Lemmy.)...
Why can't the U.N. just make war illegal?
Fished this monster out of a dumpster a few years back at work and always knew I'd probably do something with it, heard they make great gaming PCs but it's so freaking loud I never even entertained that possibility....
I migrated from reddit like a lot of folks. I'm using kbin.social, but it seems I can also see posts from people at places like lemmy.world. How many different instances are there? How does the federated model work? So far I like what I see, but I'm also just trying to understand how things are integrated here.
When I tried Mastodon, I found I couldn't get the content I'm interested in there. I'm not really interested in following specific people; instead I want to see posts that fit my interests, regardless of who made them. Hence (apparently very unpopular on the Fediverse), I actually want an algorithm that can create a personalized...
The Kbin Splatoon community is kinda quiet, do we have more Splatoon fans out there on Kbin or elsewhere? I found a good Lemmy spot too.
