It’s common knowledge that parents have experienced childhood at one point. Therefore, teenagers don’t really say “you don’t know what it’s like”. (At least, I haven’t heard it yet). But in this generation, parents haven’t had the struggle of many things that kids are faced with today....
They work by giving you a random email address that is available for a short time (ex. 10min) and an inbox for any messages you recieve during that time (ex. an email verification message from a Lemmy server)...
I see no use for the numlock key, I'd rather just have the numpad on the whole time. Are there actually cases where it is useful or people who for some reason prefer their numpad turned off?
I know this is not a feature oficially on lemmy as of now (at least the github github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/2397?ref=privacy… the issue is still open)...
I'm currently planning to build a new server after I discovered what my system uses in Idle. As I have to set up a new system anyways I would like to add a NAS to it to manige my storage. Currently I just have a zfs-Pool in proxmox for my Data-Drives and all VMs/Containers that need access have escalated rights and can directly...
I just switched over to feddit.uk to reduce the strain on lemmy.world. Either I’ve forgotten or am doing something wrong, because I can’t seem to subscribe in what I thought was the right way....

I’ve always been a “lurker” on all platforms and communities because when I do have a question or would like to contribute my first thought has become:...
I use the MX Linux distribution (Debian-based) as my dual-boot. Recently, I’ve started building a new PC, the crux of which will be a Radeon RX 7900xtx GPU. Since it showed up before everything else, I crammed it into my current PC to replace a GTX970 to test and play around....
So considering there’s a substantial push to get away from places like Reddit and Twitter, as an outsider I’m wondering how the fediverse is going to actually provide solutions to some already bad problems within higher resource platforms:...
I joined the fediverse like 2 weeks ago. I’m trying to find the answers to all my doubts reading discussions around, watching videos etc, but there are still some questions I’m looking an answer for. Here they are:...
I was thinking of setting up a home surveilance system using Frigate, and integrating it with Home Assistant. I’d probably have somewhere on the order of 10-15 1080p 30fps cameras. I’m not sure what components I should get for the server, as I am unsure of the actual processing requirements....
I should add that this isn’t the first time this has happened, but it is the first time since I reduced the allocation of RAM for PostgreSQL in the configuration file. I swore that that was the problem, but I guess not. It’s been almost a full week without any usage spikes or service interruptions of this kind, but all of a...
