Aside from the useless features overkill, I still think SwiftKey is the best Android keyboard. I ignore 90% of the stuff they implement. Quite frankly I am almost unable to type quick without it.
Nintendo Switch is great for 1st party games and some exclusives, but frame rate / resolution might not be able to compete with other consoles, plus the MSRP of many games on e-shop can be 1 - 3 bucks more expensive compared to, say PSN.
If this is your only gaming device, then maybe consider Crisis Core, Hollow Knight, Octopath Traveler 2, Live a Live. If it’s not, then stick to 1st party games, exclusives, and graphically less taxing games.
As for discounts, I use DekuDeals to keep track of the price drops. Most 1st party Nintendo games only have discount up to 33%, and those discounts happen like 2 - 3 times a year. While 3rd party games… I swear to god I’ve seen games that are on sale every month or so.
Sometimes, it’s surprising how life unfolds. I remember back in my second year at boarding school, we were all set to return for another term, standing on the train station platform. Fooling around, we missed the train.
With no other options and perhaps a bit of youthful audacity, we took dads old ford and we ended up driving it all the way to school.
The car broke down, we almost got caught. Then crazily, we crashed into a famous tree on campus.
However, as wild as that was, missing that train might just have saved us.
We later found out that the Chamber of Secrets had been opened around the time we were meant to be on that train. A deadly monster, a Basilisk, was slithering around the castle, able to kill just by meeting your gaze.
Who’s to say we wouldn’t have bumped into it, had we made that train? With our track record of stumbling into trouble, it seems more than likely. It’s a chilling thought.
I’m running a calckey instance and have no issue. Akkomas site claims it federates with Mastodon so is it maybe a non-Akkoma issue? Something in your server setup maybe?
Teach him high five, it’s pretty easy and super cute. Also, if you haven’t already, get a harness and start training him for that so you can take walks together safely. Hiding treats is a great activity, it helps satisfy the hunting urge. You can even do this with regular food, hide small amounts in various changing locations around your space, so he has to go hunting.
I did indeed miss that. From the feed you can only block things, not subscribe. I thought you had to go to the sidebar of the community to subscribe. Cheers!
If you do, obviously most of Nintendo's titles are worth having. Zelda games are an easy recommend, but also Splatoon is pretty great.
If not, there's tons of games that are good that aren't Nintendo games that I think are worth having.
Octopath Traveler is awesome. I haven't played 2 yet, but I can recommend 1 if you like JRPGs
All legacy FF games are on the platform to some capacity
Ace Attorney game collections are great if you like visual novels
Basically every indie is on the platform at this point. Hollow Knight, Shovel Knight, Axiom Verge, probably a lot of others but those are some big names that come to mind.
Otherwise, I would avoid ports that haven't gotten good reviews. Also, make sure that the games aren't "cloud only" unless you're comfortable with that.
I tried 3-4 different apps before landing on it. I’m not even a little bit tempted to try anything else. It’s almost obscene how quickly they managed to make an Apollo clone for Lemmy.
Yes, that was the decisive aspect. Fuck preloading images. I do not deign a comment more worth the screenspace just because someone posted an image link, I consider it app-breaking bloat. And man, I like some bloat. I’d be cool with voyager loading avatars or tables if they wanted. Just not things that break the flow of text.
(… I do have Thunder installed just in case they make it a setting. I like the interface.)
Only problem I have with voyager is the bug where it sometimes won’t let you comment. Error message says I must select a language in my Lemmy profile, but I already have two languages selected. I emailed the dev, and he amazingly responded in like 3 minutes with a kind explanation that he’s already working on a fix.
Not as far as I know. Lemmy API doesn’t support marking multiple posts at once, so there is currently no clean way. And no application does it locally. Yet at least.
This is true, actually. I’ve felt uncomfortable adding something that essentially can create 10s of requests per second to an APIs that have been struggling significantly.
I see though that it’s being done and - although I’m not one of the admins to know - things seem to be fine now.
I don’t think it’s the best idea, given the fragility of things, but we can revisit this.
