Garuda, love the invicibility with 4, constant power regen with 3, scalable damage to enemy level with 1, subsume 2 as you’ll have the mod that gains you life when you spend energy. Innate slash damage. Bump up cast speed, become unstoppable in a room full of enemies. I do love playing as Atlas with the free punch augment tho, but struggle to pay enough attention to rubble.
Maybe, but I think that the branding of the “fediverse” + difficulty of use will make it unlikely to surpass reddit or any other alternatives. It will almost certainly still be around for years to come, but I doubt it’ll be much more than niche, despite me hoping for the contrary.
I will say I hate the difficult to use part. it’s no harder than email it’s the same @ symbol and everything. i don’t see people having an issue signing up for yahoo or Gmail. I agree it’s a branding issue but the question is who is branding it that way. seems more like fud to me. is it aa feature rich? no that is valid and will improve in time. once jerboa fixed /c urls I don’t even search for them I just find them organically now.
I downloaded connect for lemmy yesterday just to see, and although it won’t let me sign in unless I give it my email instead of username. (ive been SOL if an instance doesn’t require an email, but maybe it works on someone elses) i think I’m liking connect better than jerboa though. For me it’s been less glitchy, and it easier to access content.
I’ve been into the BattleTech universe since I was a kid (when I first got MechWarrior 2 on Win95), and nothing has frustrated me quite as hard as some BattleTech missions.
There are some mega mod packs for that game too that drastically change the ruleset (hit mechanics, how cover and evasion works, etc) as well as add in hundreds of new units ('Mechs, armor, VTOLs, even Clan Elemental infantry if you’re playing one of the post-3050 mods). RogueTech is absolutely fucking infuriating, but so far it’s the closest you can get to tabletop rules.
Community-made mods that you can find over at Nexus, but they usually require ownership of the expansions, if I remember correctly. You definitely want to play through the standard vanilla game for a while before you go messing with any mod packs though, because they are substantially harder.
Honestly even if they fired Huffman, reversed all his bad decisions, and even went open source again it would still never be the same. They would never be able to fix the damage that they’ve done.
That’s what happens when you stab your users in the back like this.
Yeah, it’s not as though the third party app devs would suddenly all be like “oh thank god we can keep working with this company”. The bridges are burned.
Also the person developing Reddit’s mod Toolbox is quitting [source]. That’ll be a huge blow to the ability for Reddit mods to moderate subreddits. Yep they really couldn’t fix this even if they wanted to (they don’t, they think we’re too stupid and that we’ll still keep using Reddit even after every sub is full of spam and “upvote if you agree” posts).
Did you watch the show? I just finished and now want to start the books from the beginning so I can get the full series, but it’s going to be a very long read.
Because the dev now works at Google, he had to remove the root hiding functions called SU Hide. You can bring it back with various modules, but I was lazy and wanted a install one, do all solution.
Magisk Delta is a fork that brings back SU Hide, and I haven’t needed to install an extra app to fix any apps it couldn’t hide root from.
It sounds like you came across documentation for how to host a Lemmy server. Can you explain what it is you’re trying to do? I’m not sure what you mean by “use the official web app.”
Well, I use Jerboa but it’s unstable. So I went to that page: join-lemmy.org/apps and tried to link to “official web app”. But I came accross Github a few other times and I’m always confused…
I would third control. I picked it up from the Humble female protagonist bundle and it was fantastic, loved everything about it.
Once you unlock all the powers the combat and exploration really open up, and the game still has a significant bit of story left giving you time to have some fun with them.
Also loved the environmental lore, all the notes and the vids with Dr. Darling are great. Highly recommend the game.
Amazing game, definitely one of my all-time favorites and the most fun I've had with a combat system. The atmosphere of the game is fantastic as well, pulling so much tension out of every new supernatural office space you discover. I'm absolutely thrilled they confirmed a Control 2 recently, I can't wait to get back into that world with all its lore to discover. I feel like I need to play Alan Wake now too since they're connected.
Alan Wake is pretty interesting from a female perspective, because it's a male hero but it's good a pretty good female supporting character in the Sheriff and the plot with Alice is really interesting in light of the idea of fridging. Also, the sequel will have a second playable protagonist that's a woman.
To actually cook things enough. I wasn’t cooking them to unsafe levels before, and please don’t cook my steak above medium rare, but some foods just taste better cooked more. Almost no one cooks ground meats enough, who the hell wants grey beef, get some color on that bitch. Also if you cook sausage meat enough it gains color and the flat renders out a little it tastes better. Get some colour on those roast veggies and no one likes a pale insipid fry. A change in color is flavor, use it to your advantage. And yes sometimes you want your veggies firm and for the love of god don’t overcook your garlic.
I agree with you on getting color in your food. I think the best way to do that is to cook it at the right temperature (don’t be afraid of heat!) and don’t crowd the pan. And don’t be too stir-happy.
Ground beef, for example. You don’t have to cook it long it you start with a hot pan that’s big enough. Get a pan with a heavy bottom and heat it up empty for a minute or two on medium or medium- high heat. Plop the meat in. It should sizzle. Break it up enough for it to cover the pan, and then don’t stir for a couple minutes. You can stir it when you see some brown forming on the bottom layer.
That was the hardest thing for me to learn to do, to just let the food be and not stir it all the time. Stirring feels like you’re doing “something” lol.
I do too, but this thread is about ways to filter or block content so I'm not really sure what that has to do with it?
I'd love a way to filter by keyword, which the Reddit Enhancement Suite and some of the 3rd party apps allowed. Maybe the upcoming Sync for Lemmy will port over its filters by domain, user, subreddit, flair, and keyword.
As for Reddit posts invading Lemmy, it seems like most of them are contained to c/reddit and c/RedditMigration, so blocking those two should fix most of OP's issue and that's easy enough to do without any extra tools.
Right now lemmy’s growth is driven by people pre-emptively leaving reddit even though their choses mobile apps still function. We’ll probably see another influx come July.
But for now all we as a seed community can do is engage the other topics we enjoy and build communities that have substance.
Eventually people will join to engage those topics instead of grip reddits demise.
Very good response. To see less complaining about Reddit, make more posts about other things. Lemmy will be what we make it. I have spent two weeks posting into the void with the community I started and I’m finally starting to see engagement. These things take time.
blue lizard sunscreen sticks are my favorite. They’re really lightweight so great for hiking, vegan/not tested on animals, reef safe, they last a long time, since it’s a stick you can’t get goop anywhere accidentally, and they don’t make my skin feel gross at all like most sunscreen does for me. I’ve never felt any burn in my eyes when sweating. They’re kinda expensive but imo worth it
It’s been a while, but I wanted to come back and thank you for this rec, because I really like the blue lizard sunscreen. I got the stick for my face and tube stuff for the rest of my body and I’m really pleased with them. These actually rub in very well and I’m not leaving white streaks on everything I touch.
