I replaced my aging NUC with a Minisforum SFF box and am also very happy with it. Footprint is slightly larger, but actually find it much quieter. The NUC was basically silent 90% of the time too, but it had an annoying high pitched whine if you were doing something very CPU-intensive.
Depending on model they can support up to 2 m.2s and a 2.5" drive.
Hell’s yeah it is. The good news is: it only gets better! A career will have hickups, good years and bad. But the more you put into it, the more software development gives back. And I don’t mean a sense of self worth. Raises, promptions, bigger projects, more hardware, and then opportunities in management spheres, architecture, consulating, contracting, bidding, and you name it - tech is doing it all in the future
And that future is ahead of you too. Enjoy today! Tomorrow may never come, but if it does, it comes at your pace as of right now
Always felt unwelcome posting anything on reddit. Lemmy is new enough and filled with people who are nice enough to make feel like I wont get yelled at for commenting or posting.
Heads up, we’ve created a space on Matrix.org. Here’s the link to enter, if interested! We will be migrating over from Discord matrix.to/#/%23fedicollective%3Amatrix.org
Thanks! Can you add direct aliases to the rooms so that I can join them directly via a XMPP bridge? Right now you can only access the space and that doesn’t work via bridges.
Note that this group’s name is currently up for discussion and will change in the next couple days. I’ll update the published addresses when that happens and share them here!

Strange, I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s just a bug? If you open the reviews section on the Play Store page for the game, and check the “Show reviews for: This device model” checkbox, do you see any reviews from other Pixel 5 users there?
Probably not. I understand the concern, but another issue is sending people to smaller instances which may end up disappearing. It’s all run by small groups of volunteers or even by individuals, at least on the bigger servers you have, at least in theory, a lower chance of the instance vanishing (with your account).
I don’t know if there are any plans to cooperate between instances for tech support/funding or if accounts can be transfered one day. Until then - a slow lemmy.world feels like the lesser evil.
yes, limiting users is one tool to encourage users to find another “home” instance that they normally use to browse and post so that the system as a whole can scale better
