A while back I was into KDE Plasma but for whatever reason had this bug that would cause my system to run at 100 percent at all times. When I looked into it, many stated it was a bug that related to how kde searches for stuff on the system. Dont remember much else but that had me look elsewhere.

Been on gnome for awhile now and havent had any issues.

Pixel 6a or pixel 7 if you are willing to spend more. Pixel 7a needs to drop its price to make any sense

Gili , to android in What's your favorite alternate launcher?

Sadly 3rd party launchers don’t work well with widgets, at least on One UI. I found Nova Launcher to do well with gestures and animations, but it’s not there yet for me. The One UI launcher works as expected but lacks the ability to change stuff like the icon shape which I don’t like very much (Theme Park doesn’t do it well).

Take On Me is THE all time karaoke classic.

Yeah, I noticed that too, I just hope the amount of people who do care is big enough to have a nice and thriving community outside of corporate control.

bigredgiraffe , to selfhosted in Setting up selfhosting without a terminal

I have a couple friends like this over the past few years that I just built their server and taught them how to install updates on the terminal (or write a maintenance script for them to run) and how to open a port if I need to fix something remotely and it has been great.

Also, Depending on the user once it’s set up I usually recommend either Portainer or Cockpit are more than enough with watchtower to keep things up to date. If that is too much I usually just suggest a Synology/qnap or TrueNAS/unRAID for roll your own.

ETA: Cockpit also has a web based terminal and can execute package manager updates as well.

I am not sure if Immich supports configuring base URL. You can look into that.

If it is not supported, you may need to try your luck with URL rewriting. Nginx can do it natively. Briefly, you need to configure Nginx to strip the /immich from the request URL before proxying the request to the Immich instance.

Thanks, eventually I went for the subdomain approach, it turned out to be a less headache and working just fine with wildcard letsencrypt ssl cert.

surfrock66 OP , to linux_gaming in Subjectively, how are modern Intel UHD or Iris Xe Graphics for mild gaming on an Ubuntu based distro?
@surfrock66@lemmy.world avatar

/u/[email protected] I can’t reply to comments from kbin.social, so here is the reply

I couldn’t reply yesterday for some reason, but we are gonna do a mini prebuilt for 3 reasons, 1) the space caters to it more, he’s at a small area of my desk in my home office. 2) He’s not interested in building a computer yet. We just rebuilt the minecraft server and he was totally disinterested, and it’s desktop parts in a server chassis, he just wants to use it. I think that’ll change when he’s a little older, but for now this is a better fit. 3) Warranty; I have used system76 machines for years for work and the warranty is worth it for a really reliable machine.

We will make his own computer for sure one day…I don’t know how to explain this, but hopefully this shows how much I get it, this is me custom designing my own acrylic lan party case in 2001: www.surfrock66.com/compucube-case-design/ and here’s it’s successor in 2004: www.surfrock66.com/the-supercomputer-mod/ I’ve been doing super-customs for a LOOOOONG time, and one day he will for sure enter the world lol.

I’ve been using QTile for probably a year now. It’s not perfect, but I like the tiled windowing and I know python.
