More that Reddit’s entered a slow death spiral. Redditors will start seeing an upsurge in toxicity, since mods will have left, been replaced with stooges, had their tools taken away, and most of the good mods will have abandoned ship.
Some may come here. Some may move on to Discord or other social media. Some will stick it out on Reddit, but notice that bots and trolls are taking over, whatever moderators are left can’t or won’t keep up, and the admins are seemingly asleep at the switch.
In a few months, discourse there will have assumed Youtube quality, with bots shouting down human discourse, and trolls scaring anyone remotely normal away. They’ll limp along like that for years.
They are only really useful for getting an instance to federate an off instance community- you paste that form in the search box, and usually a few minutes later you can access the community.
If you want to have a link to a community, use just ‘/c/[email protected]’ - even if the instance is the one you are on. That way it will work wherever you are logged in. example is a link to ‘/c/[email protected]’
I haven’t found a way to link posts or comments that are instance portable- if anyone knows of a way, I’d love to hear it.
This is one reason I don't use Kbin - it seems to have pointlessly chosen its own terminology just to distinguish itself from Lemmy which makes it less useful.

Yeah, those don't work from kbin. None of the links I've found in c/newcommunities works for me. Am patiently waiting for whatever the problem is to be resolved.
just kbin.social. all kbin instances federate with everyone and block no one by default but instance owners can intentionally defederate/block if they so choose. afaik kbin.social's policy is to not defederate/block (at least the admin here hasn't mentioned anything yet). I haven't heard of other kbin instances defederating at all though, but most are so small to not even be noteworthy.
just grabbed god of war, disco elysium, and hellblade senuas sacrifice...
as far as recommendations go, Mass Effect legendary edition and dragon age are very enjoyable if you like RPG with a focus on lore, story and characters. Red Dead Redemption 2 is a wonder and a steal at $20. Witcher 3 for $12. Horizon Zero Dawn for $16.50
I love GOG and their anti-DRM stance but I just can't bring myself to buy games there when they don't even have a native Linux launcher. Steam, on the other hand, just works.
I don't have any games to recommend but I wanted to thank people here for some actually good suggestions. I feel like I've been taken for a bit of a ride at that other place by shills in similar threads compared to this.
While possible, it’s also possible Janeway is just fucking with him and where Chakotay hides his booze is an open secret.
That conversation was in the elevator, and Chakotay had just said he wasn’t going to talk about what the experience was like because of the temporal prime directive.

“No? Alright we’ll get on with installation. But first, we need to make sure you’re not running a VM, VPN and other software we don’t like from our handy DRM software.”
“Oh, that DRM software also happens to collect your contact information and read your files so we can sell that for money. Thanks and enjoy!”

I wish I could at least separate my likes list by content type. I hit like/dislike on shorts way more frequently than long-form videos to train that algorithm, but when I go into that list, I'm usually trying to find a long-form video from a while back.
I enjoyed the episode. I think what makes SNW stand out for me is the characters. All the main crew are interesting, likeable characters, and that for me is generally a key ingredient for great Star Trek.
It has been quite a weird opening to the season. We haven’t had the crew together on the bridge (or even the ship) for 3 whole episodes. I’m guessing there was a real world reason for this (i.e. availability of the cast), but kind of hoping the next episode is a bit more “normal”.
Also, given that Kirk features, it was a missed opportunity to open with “Personal log: We’ve. Travelled. Back in Time…” without further explanation.
I don’t think we’re going to see in this show any Starfleet officers committing information to personal logs that could threaten history.
SNW seems very conscious that personal logs aren’t entirely personal beyond access.
Una recorded and deleted her personal log acknowledging she is Illyrian in season one.
Later shows in the continuity have revealed to us that some personal logs to become available to next of kin, or are even studied by future Starfleet personnel.
Having Uhura pointedly resist providing the personal logs to La’an in ‘Ad Astra Per Aspera’ also underscored to us that it’s the ethics of communications officers that protect privacy.
Subscribing to 10 technology communities will likely get you a much, much more vibrant experience than just subbing to r/technology. People actually, you know, discuss things in smaller spaces, rather than just drop drive-by comments that no one will ever read.
Seems to me this is a protestant thing, i grew up Catholic and repentance was a major part of it. You don’t change and become a better person? Then no absolution for you.
