But, with that said, of course you’re not the only one. It’s a pretty common sentiment, particularly when people have some long term health issues (physical or mental). You go to enough group therapy sessions, you’d be hard pressed to not have any given group be a majority of members feeling the same. Same with many support groups.
Well the majority of the post was me trying to explain the question. I can’t just say “Has anyone else had the same thoughts I had?” because the first thing that would be asked is “What thoughts are you having?”
So yeah, I had to backtrack and explain my thoughts before I could ask if anyone else is having them. I was trying to learn if there’s other people who feel this way, or if this is among the many many many other things that people say “No, it’s just you”.
You saying that this is a thing other people experience is what I was trying to figure out. You’re taking a tone like it’s obvious, but it’s not obvious to me, so I thought this would be the place to ask things like that.
The only reason it’s obvious is that there’s billions of people in earth. It’s hard to find anything that there isn’t a decent number of people that feel/experience the same thing.
Which is no biggie at all, I didn’t intend for it to come across snippy or anything.
Hell, the only reason I even mentioned that this isn’t best place is that once you get enough down votes, a post can get buried to anyone that isn’t sorting by new. Reduces the chances of interaction.
I’m trying to recall where on lemmy, and what the name is, for the “doesanyoneever” type of thing. I ran a couple of searches, but there’s too many ways it could have been created the run through them all but there is one, and I could have sworn it was on lemmy.world, but I’m not seeing it currently. But I could just be missing it, I dunno.
I had to say goodbye to my emotional support cat two months ago. He helped me through losing my mom 6 years ago, his “brother” four years ago (they weren’t related, just a bonded pair when I adopted them), and my dad last year. He was 18 and started having problems breathing and eating. We went to the emergency vet when he jumped up on his sunny resting spot and I saw that he couldn’t catch his breath. I was lucky. He made the decision easy for me.
My wish for you and Bear is that no matter what happens, you will not second-guess whatever decision you make. It’s hard enough to lose a fur friend, especially one that’s been by your side for 17 years, but you don’t have to make the grieving process harder by playing the “if only I’d…” game. Bear is counting on you to do the right thing, and IMO, any decision you make from a position of love and compassion is the RIGHT thing.
that’s one way to look at it, but things like that happen often in reproduction. what matters is: now you’re here, so you might as well make the best of it, because if rebirth isn’t a thing you just get this one chance to do your thing.

I’m so sorry this is happening to your family. See if you can find a vet that will come to the house. My little princess died at home alone of heart failure. I was going to take her to the vet that afternoon to be euthanized but didn’t make it home from work in time. I feel guilty that she was all alone when she passed but glad that I didn’t have to stress her with going to the vet. By that time she really hated going to the vet.
I mean people don't think I take things seriously enough but you gotta ask if the story is even true. I mean I ask myself. Its my creation? Is it real? Its my creation? I do not know. You have to have no hesitation and a heart of gold, because its just flesh and blood. I do not know.
If you can create a successful grassroots political party in an environment where your party members and constituents are constantly attacked, murdered, bombed, jailed, tortured, votes faked, votes destroyed, and vote miscounts, you can definitely pull it off in the USA.
It took Pakistan only 20 years to cause a collapse of their corrupt 2 party system and challenge the military dictatorship. People never believed PTI would mount any sort of challenge, but they did by building a solid populist movement, despite facing all of the above.
The “you must vote the lesser evil” is a fallacy that both parties in the USA perpetuate in an attempt to convince you to believe 3rd party voting is a waste of time.
You can’t just sit back and complain about the rigged system like “but muh first past the poll voting” as if either Democrats or Republicans will change the system in any way to make it easier for their rivals.
This is exactly why I dislike the Democratic party in particular so much. They are a corporate monolith that pretends to care about your leftist demands by handing out pennies worth of change to get your vote, then the second they refuse to actually significantly change something you demand, they have the audacity to blame you, the voter, for not sucking up to their shitty policies when they inevitably lose the election.
Current case in point: "There is no genocide in Gaza, and we believe we can win without our constituents because our opponent is a mentally insane baby ".

They have a first past the post parliamentary system, derived from the UK. The US has a separation of powers between its executive branch and its legislative branch.
The way to build third parties is by reforming the democratic system state by state to have a ranked choice system open non-partisan primary to select the top two final candidates followed by a general election between these two candidates for each election to elect a representative or president.
It helps mitigate the flaws of the ranked choice system to have it stop at the final two and let the voters choose between these final two choices. It helps get candidates that are at the center of voter opinion distribution.
This means the hard work of mobilizing together and working across partisan lines, recruiting the majority of Americans that are pro-democracy in each and every state.
I tried making a similar argument on Facebook in 2016 when Trump won.
I didn’t vote for either of the top two, but I did vote 3rd party. I voted on someone that i felt would be just as good a fit as the other two at that time. I wanted change, and tried to get so-called friends to change the way they thought about voting. Some of those people were the kind to say “my vote doesn’t matter. They’ll elect whomever they want in office.”
I even went so far as to draw a very shitty comic that pointed out the other options on the ballot, and how we as a society could push for political change BY VOTING.
Sigh… I was called a classless human being by an immigrant from the UK I went to college with. Her friends, and even one professor kept blowing up my DMs calling me trash for not supporting Clinton. That election really showed me the true colors of people. Since then i just tell people i am “unaffiliated” when they ask which party i support.
