There’s lots of technology channels on YouTube and it’s competition that do tech news that I feel are pretty relevant (gamerz nexus for sure). I wouldn’t want people to lose that just because some of us (myself included) prefer written formats to videos.
Twitter is still influencing the rest of the web (look at its influence on reddit since Musk bought Twitter, and Spez started wanting to live in his skin). I don’t think we can just take the good without the bad and assume a net positive.
I used to find it utterly hilarious before I switched to Lemmy, how redditorshated twitterx and twitterx users, then would praise reddit and the reddit community lmfao.
Nah, as someone who came from reddit, we were generally a pretty terrible bunch even before bots basically took over. I don’t feel that Lemmy is much better but the platform’s overall practices seem to be better. My mileage with the community varies greatly from day to day.
My main beef is that I don’t enjoy watching video form content, but having a summary would be more than sufficient to quickly determine whether or not I would be interested in watching anyway.
I don’t see this as an unpopular opinion, but I do agree with it - at least here (Brazil) Twitter was evolving into a containment cage for nutjobs and morons, until it was blocked. (And it’s damn easy to find who’s who in the Bluesky diaspora, as the nutjobs/morons miss Twitter while the saner people are glad to see it locally gone.)
“A lot of networks report the news as it happens. But only one has the power to report the news BEFORE it happens. Through our state-of-the-art wormhole sattelite, the Onion News Network Future channel brings you exclusive news transmissions from the year 2137. Because to stay ahead in today’s world, you need to know what’s going to happen in tomorrow’s.”
And then on the map one of the states is Gay Texas LMAO
Because there’s absolutely no genre of video. If you want to browse random videos, go on YouTube. Link aggregation is for sharing specific videos of specific subjects.
I was a proud third party voter for a long time but changed my mind after watching CGPGrey’s video about first past the post. It’s not really ABOUT trying to change minds but FPTP voting rules really do mean that a two party system is bound to very basic human psychology.
Don't think of it as politics, think of it as a regime. They control the political process and switch spots based on public sentiment.
The political process is a charade as long as people keep voting in polarized way. The propaganda is there to keep us polarized. Most Anglo sphere appears to be infected at this point.
Insane levels of cope from the party that’s suing states to remove the “unviable” third parties to protect their genocide candidate’s chances at beating someone who is literally incapable of forming basic sentences
Keep the snark going, I’m sure it’ll help when you’re scrambling to get people to vote when their lives are being made worse to ensure Israel’s endless wars keep going.
How many dead kids will it take for you to grow a spine?
I think he wanted to run it into the ground or make it a fashist/rightwing/propaganda site before the US elections and it looks like he’s pretty much there. It’s in a horrible state. Could be worse, but it’s really bad.
