You don’t mention what you want Nextcloud for specifically, but it sounds like you really just want a NAS for the most part. Off the shelf brands like Synology and Qnap are great, or you can get/build a box to host FreeNAS or TrueNAS.

This streamlines what you intend to do and skips some extra steps.

Sibbo , to showerthoughts in Trying to build viable third parties by voting for them in presidential elections is like trying to build a third door in your house by repeatedly walking into the wall where you want the door to be.

You mean in the USA? I guess the more viable path is to campaign to fix their democracy from within the democratic party. And then make new parties.

srecko ,

Spliting from within the party is the usual way.

Toes , to technology in Wtf is this bullshit? Why can't i update to ios16 on my iPhone 7+? Now how will i buy my french fries at a discount price?

The reason is simply the developer has failed to understand that iOS 15 is still supported by Apple.

It’s not hard to target the older models, with iOS it’s mostly just a few small tweaks.

Telorand ,

And continuing that thought, OP can just contact the app maintainer and request lowering the minimum version.

I know it’s an odd recommendation when we’re so used to taking what we get from companies, but sometimes they respond to requests like that.

Smash garlic cloves with the side of a big knife to make the skin much easier to remove

Canned tomatoes usually taste way better than fresh tomatoes

When cooking pasta, save some of the pasta water to add to the sauce if it’s too thick, thins it out but the starch keeps it nice and saucy or something - acts as an emulsifier or something

other_cat OP ,
@other_cat@lemmy.world avatar

Pasta water as an emulsifier was also a huge technique for me :)

shalafi , to nostupidquestions in Would it be legal to crowdfund a licensed private detective to investigate a public figure and publish their results publicly?

When asking yourself such questions, ask what law(s) might be broken. There are plenty I’m sure, but your PI should know exactly how to stay out of trouble. Unless when, maybe later, it comes out that he was up to shenanigans…

And no, I’m certain no justification is required to contract a PI. Imagine if there was, no one would do the job.

You and I have had very different experiences with LSD.

leftzero ,

So, Antichamber, then…?

Wrufieotnak OP ,

That might be for sure. Drugs are a bit different for everyone.

I meant it in connection that LSD is a hallucinogen, often regarding geometric forms and can make you see or rather feel connections between formerly unrelated things. Additionally it changes the feeling of time and space. All those are related to Gorogoa as well.

Meltrax , to asklemmy in What is your favourite open source software that you discovered in the past year, that you can no longer live without?

Jellyfin. Use it daily. Dropping more and more atreamjnf services, it’s been awesome.

Honorable mentioned to Revanced.

Teppichbrand ,

I just installed Jellyfin on my Raspi 4 and I’m not happy. It’s so laggy and slow I can barely use it. What is your setup?

ECB ,

Not a raspi, but I had similar issues on my opensuse HTPC which turned it to be related to issues with (or missing) media codecs in Firefox.

After (re)installing all of them, it worked like a charm.
