It’s pretty hard to imagine a way for groups of people with varying goals and interests to operate without some form of value exchange. This can either be barter, or some form of currency. Our specific kind of extractive capitalism based on creating endless cycles of debt and credit can certainly be replaced with any number of alternatives, but the idea of money itself is just too basic and useful to humans, imo.

I’ve found that as well with some files. At first I thought the issue was with the jellyfin instance had not enough capabilities, but after trying the same file with its subtitles, it worked on any other client: flatpak, web, and regular android. So for me it is the chromecast/androidtv device, so I am now looking what to replace it with

I was trying to write a custom Strategy for an objectMapper in Java. Foolishly decided to ask ChatGPT about it and got instructions which suggested an implementation that was the inverse of how Strategies actually work. Stuck for an afternoon.

Then in the evening I read the docs and put it together in half an hour from scratch. Lesson learned about the stochastic parrots.
