MrScottyTay , to asklemmy in How do you get over a crush?

Time.

Do other things and in time you will be over it.

almizilero , to asklemmy in how do you survive lazy coworkers?

German office worker here. It can be the same, or some other way that drives you nuts. My current coworkers are just extremely slow. I mean really. They “work” all the time, but it takes them like an hour to write a short email. I usually get my days work done in an hour or two and then do my own stuff and will still have achieved more that day than the slow ones. So of course, I get more workload because “I get things done”. I sometimes even secretly do their work because I like some of them and don’t want them fired… The boss is prone to hiring idiots (I mean, look at the people he has, including me), so it’s usually worse people coming in when someone leaves.

That said, your or my situation or variations of them are pretty much the norm. If you really want to put the work in, don’t look at big offices or established companies. I guess some small places or startup might be the way to go. Or mobile nurse, where you have your own route and patients. And of course, if you like being overworked, there’s always Amazon …

ExtremeDullard , to android in Flickboard or 8Vim, which "Fast Typing" Keyboard should I try to learn?
@ExtremeDullard@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

The fastest touchscreen keyboard I’ve ever found is OpenBoard with Gesture Typing: it’s both a regular keyboard and a super-fast Swype-like keyboard. It’s open-source and it doesn’t connect to the internet, so you don’t need to freak out because the APK is 2 years old.

corsicanguppy , to asklemmy in What's the hardest you've ever hit your head on something or something hit yours?

Fell out of a bunk bed onto cement floor. Bounced off of random child bedroom detritus enough to deflect the blow, but I dented the back of my cervical vertebrae - all of them - so much that 40 years later my physio is asking why my x-ray shows a kink or bend in the bone.

How dead should I have been, eh?

The_Che_Banana , to asklemmy in I find no motivation in working for myself

You DO need to trick your brain to do this!

Start by saying this is for X and not for me, do the thing, or part of the thing, and build up incrementally.

This is how I went from couch potat to triathlons: I am not exercising, I am just commuting…your brain is dumb and you need to exploit that

How did you set it up? As a docker container or directly under your OS?

Daniel_Deghaye OP ,

docker thought truenas apps

DmMacniel ,
@DmMacniel@feddit.org avatar

Have you bind your audiobook directory to the containers /audiobook directory?

What format are your audiobooks?

Have you tried uploading one via the GUI?

Perhaps it’s a permission issue (e.g. add the user that runs audiobookshelf to the shares group)

Daniel_Deghaye OP ,

how do i bind it?

DmMacniel ,
@DmMacniel@feddit.org avatar

I sadly do not know how to do it in truenas.

Daniel_Deghaye OP ,

I’ll figure it out

www.truenas.com/docs/scale/22.12/…/docker/

Scrolling down should show you the different screenshots. Point 6. of the list should show the “Storage” Tab where you have the “Host Path Volumes”

That should enable you to link a path on your host to a path on your docker container.

For example Host: /mnt/mediashare/audiobooks Container: /media/audiobooks

I like operating systems as boring as possible. Let it manage the underlying system while I focus on work. I think you just convinced me to try Arch now.

Treczoks , to linux in How is RISC-V better than arm for Linux?

Actually, I think RISC-V is even worse than ARM. With ARM, at least you have a quite reliable instruction set on the CPU. With RISC-V, most vendors have their own extensions of the instruction set, which opens a big can of worms: Either you compile all your stuff for your own CPU, or you have a set of executables for each and every vendors flavor of RISC-V commands, or you exclusively use the RISC-V core commands. The first would be only for hardcore geeks, the second would be a nightmare to maintain, and the third would be not really efficient. Either way, it sucks.

Laser ,

The same was true for x86, Intel had SSE and AMD had 3DNow, programs just provided different codepaths per available feature (this is where Intel pulled some dirty tricks with their ICC). It’s not that big of a problem.
