ulkesh , to asklemmy in What is it like to be dead?
@ulkesh@beehaw.org avatar

Literally no one alive can tell you because there is no sensory input when you’re dead. Hence the being dead part.

But if you want to try to imagine what it will be like, the commenter who stated imagining what it was like pre-conception/birth…that’s about as accurate as is possible to describe.

I anticipate nothingness — and I’m reminded of what Mark Twain said about fearing death.

Checkmate, evolution.

yuf , to linux in So I installed Arch Linux... Is this it?

I have been a GNU/Linux user for about 15 years. During that time, I have alternated between Arch and Gentoo.

Gentoo is very time consuming and complex, and Arch is a pain to keep clean. However, the ability to customize the system to your preferred configuration is a big draw for both.

For a light user like me, patching and customizing to PKGBUILD is just fine. Personally, I sometimes wish for something like the USE flag in Portage.

Try to rephrase the question: is there an alternative to Mastadon in Fediverse where you can write posts in different threads (not only in your own feed)?

The human body is composed of meat wrapped in a protective coating, and therefore is a hot dog.

Ok, so if knowledge is contained in a brain via neural pathways and wrinkles and whatever other stuff (I know, so technical), then wouldn’t it stand to reason that a reanimated brain would retain all of the knowledge and memories it had before it died?*

So if Igor happened across the brain of an OSHA inspector, this outcome is not too far fetched. (All things considered)

  • I’m assuming the brain hasn’t started decaying to any significant degree.

There’s this real story of a Chinese woman thar got hit in the head, went into coma and woke up speaking perfect English (she was an English teacher after all), but the interesting part is that she completely lost her ability to talk in her mother tongue. Let’s imagine that It could be possible that the monster would have had a similar brain injury, but instead of losing the ability to speak, he would completely forget everything but his OSHA training.

Baguette ,

Huh, weirdly enough I remember a story similar to that but the opposite way (english to chinese)

Extrasvhx9he , to asklemmy in Be honest: have you ever lost your temper with a customer service rep? And did it ever help?

Honestly yeah not blow up levels of anger more passive aggressive with a hint of sarcasm when I was talking to them instead. It happened when I tried getting help at an at&t store to port out my number from at&t prepaid. Yes I know now its not the same branch or something but damn they were rude and at least could’ve told me who to call. Iirc they were watching a sports game so they probably just wanted to rush me out. At&t prepaid’s reps were nice though just thick accents.

yukichigai , to nostupidquestions in How do you drive in Cyberpunk???
@yukichigai@kbin.run avatar

I've had a lot less problems driving motorcycles. The steering issues for KB+M seem really bad with cars, but motorcycles are much easier to handle. As soon as I could obtain a motorcycle I just used that as my primary transportation for my first time playing, made the game a lot easier.

2ugly2live OP ,

There's one you can get from a sidequest that follows up on one of the major early plot points (won't say more due to spoilers). Takes a little time but it's worth it.

EDIT: There are apparently two others that come from quests as well, though I can't remember how far into the game they are.
