What isn’t the orb? That’s the real question.

Admetus , to asklemmy in What is the best low MB mobile game that you ever played ?

I played Grim Quest at 61MB. Not too large a game. I liked the atmosphere though, and the narrative made me think of horror elements for trpg.

PorkTaco , to asklemmy in It's Sunday night, how do you beat the Sunday Night Blues?

By calling in to work on Monday.

Phenomephrene , to music in What type of music is predominant on this community?
@Phenomephrene@thebrainbin.org avatar

Definitely post weird stuff. Please. Weird is my jam. Other people might down vote it, but who cares?

I'm all over the board as far as stuff that I like. Various types of extreme metal is what I most frequently have going. I've been trying to post a wide variety of different stuff in this group. To me, a general music group is by definition open to a broad variety of sounds. I haven't taken things into the noise territory as of yet under the assumption that not a lot of people would be into it, but I'd love to see some of that as well.

I'd considered starting a new group centered around more fringe music. The metal community is fairly active, and this group is active. So that's cool. There's just some stuff that's just inherently and obviously less accessible that it'd be nice to give a home with the idea that your expecting something a bit more challenging at the outset. I may end up doing that, but I also may need to figure out different instance to base it out of if I do.

cashmaggot ,

Yo, if you want to start a band or make some tunes I'm down. I can sing. I've got a mic. It's not A-grade but it'll work for noise.

HobbitFoot , to asklemmy in What is it like to live in a an extreme climate area like Alaska? How os i different than the lower 48 States?

Summer is fairly easy. Other than the sun never setting, it is pretty similar to other parts of the USA. The big difference is that you are a lot more affected by the wilderness, including large animals like moose, mosquitos, and bears.

Winter really sucks. Everyone has good Arctic gear to keep warm. Cars either need to be plugged in or left running to keep from freezing. Snow keeps piling up and doesn’t melt for a while.

There is a strong sense of community and helping out neighbors because it is the only way to survive out there. People leave their doors unlocked, in part because people may need to escape a large animal mentioned earlier.

That said, there are a lot of weird people in Alaska, mainly as it is a good place to find manual labor jobs that don’t require a background check. There is also a massive male-female imbalance.

POTOOOOOOOO OP ,

I just mentally imagine everyone carries rifles for bears. Is that a problem.

HobbitFoot ,

Yes.

A lot of people also carry pistols.

xmunk ,

You’d also be pretty surprised how different trash cans are - we’ve got that in BC as well in some parts due to the bear problems.

Jumuta , to world in Media Bias Fact Check - Automation

could you have the bot automatically unvote its posts (make it 0) so it goes under new comments when sorted by votes?

the spoiler thing doesn’t work on eternity and it kinda hides everything under it being so long

catloaf ,

I wish bot comments didn’t count toward the comment count, too. It’s annoying to see “1 comment” and then you look and it’s just this or the summary bot.

intensely_human , to showerthoughts in I wonder how many US babies have been named Donald in the last few years and may live to regret it.

Depends on how far y’all’s Trump derangement syndrome goes. Don’t tell me you’re actually considering taking it out on kids named Donald

Nuke_the_whales ,

I wouldn’t say anyone would take it out on them. But I can imagine growing up and hating your own name. I sympathize because I hate my first and middle name equally.

Matt ,

I can understand Nuke, but what do you have against The?

intensely_human ,

It’s got no Russian translation

intensely_human ,

Why do you hate your first name?

lud ,

Bullies absolutely will.
