Welcome to Linux for Mobile.
The next generation OS for keeping your smartphone private and your conversations (kinda) secure.

It’s “next generation”, because we probably won’t have a good enough solution in the lifetime of the current generation’s people.

But if you have both: enough money to buy an extra fairphone for testing and the time and ability to program drivers, please consider it.

As much as I love Linux for mobile idea, it doesn’t have a lot of apps that people rely, like banking or government related stuff.

ulterno ,
@ulterno@lemmy.kde.social avatar

I am a desktop person.
My main reasons for using a smartphone instead of a phone, are:

  1. GPS Maps. This is something I most probably won’t be able to contribute to, while at the same time, I need it a lot.
  2. UPI (Unified Payments Interface). I can manage with paper money, but this is just too useful. If Linux mobile were to pick-up, I think I could manage to get it supported by the Govt.
  3. WhatsApp, because no matter how much I don’t want to, others, including workplace teammates, will make that a requirement.

Until these requirements are met, I will associate Linux mobile with words like, “next” and “tomorrow”.

NuraShiny , to asklemmy in what tips do you have to survive job hunting?

Set aside a day of the week to do your job searching and application sending on. Teat it like your job on that day, but then don’t worry about doing it for the rest of the week.

Lie on your resumes. The corpos you will work for will lie to you, so don’t put yourself at a disadvantage by being truthful. You owe them nothing when you show up for an interview.

If you think you can learn how to do some BS thing the job wants you to be able to do, learn what it is enough to answer questions about it during the interview. If they hire you, learn enough to start working on it before you start.

Making more than 10x the money of your least paid employee.

I get where you’re coming from, but I think you’d just see companies divide into tiers where one tier would subcontract to the tier below. Think “cleaning services companies” all the way down.

Spacehooks , to asklemmy in Do you think the world would have been a better place if there were no religions?

Humans are volatile by nature. If it wasn’t religion it would be race I’d it’s not race it would be accent and if not that then something else. Everyone one could be gray blobs and there will be someone saying "Actually We’re the Grayest and the Blobiest”.

Peace will only be achieved when humanity is unified and if that happen we stop being human and something else.

atzanteol , to selfhosted in Why do so many people use NGINX?

Nginx scales better than Apache does for static content and proxying, so it started to take over market share.

A home gamer handling a handful of users is unlikely to ever notice a difference.

But the configuration for nginx is simpler nout of the box for most things which is probably the real reason people use it at home.

I’m reminded of this blog/article on Ars about ripping out OLS and reverting to NGINX. There’s some good info there, and also links to other of his posts on the subject and references. Good read.

Second on the Octopath Traveler II music. Even my son who is 9 and plays it as well as a ton of other games has only ever commented about how the music is really good on Octopath Traveler and no others (and I had never mentioned this to him). It’s definitely the best music I have every heard for a game. There was a glitch one time where the music wasn’t playing for some reason and I realized how much the music made the game come to life, NGL, I think it brings like 99% of the emotional engagement to it.

CptInsane0 , to asklemmy in Do flat earthers think other planets are flat? All of them or some of them? Are stars (including and excluding the sun) flat too?

My interactions with them point to them not believing those things are real at all, or are not planets, etc.
