NM156 , to piracy in RARBG alternatives and successor?

As of today the only one similar to RARBG is

TorrentGalaxy.to

After that I’d go with…

MagnetDL.com

TorrentDownload.info

Torlock.com

1337x.to/home

Torrentz2.nz

SolidTorrents.to

ThePirateBay.org

Ext.to

ExtraTorrents.it

EZTV.re

LimeTorrents.cc

TorrentLeech.org

web.stremio.com (for viewing and direct downloads)

YTS.mx (.mp4 only)

Personally, I use a combination of MagnetDL.com and TorrentGalaxy.to… That gets me back to my search routine for everything I usually found on RARBG… TorrentDownload.info and Torlock.com are solid options as well…

Hopefully when all the smoke clears, RARBG will be able to start up again…

Happy Torrenting!..

Gauffke OP , to fediverse in Can I follow a kbin magazine from Lemmy?

Thank you guys! It’s early days, but I find I playing with those Fediverse tools extremely promising!

db0 , to selfhosted in Want to selfhost a Lemmy server
@db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Get a cheap linux VPS. My host provides 4 CPU sd and 8G for 8 eur per month which should be enough for something like 500 users.

Then just run the ansible playbook. It will do everything for you

XenoBen OP ,

thanks, in VPS, any red flag I should care for? Privacy, monitoring, etc?

db0 ,
@db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Very low bandwidth caps will be a problem with fediverse.

Other than that, check your steal % once you have the VM. If it’s over 20% consistently, you’re being ripped off.

Illecors ,

Is this an arm instance on hetzner? I was looking for something cheaper than digitalocean, but I like their networking quality a lot.

jjakc ,
@jjakc@lemthony.com avatar

I have mine running on the cheapest arm Hetzner instance, working well so far

Illecors ,

Glad to hear that!

SmugBedBug ,

I didn’t know Lemmy could run on arm architecture. Is your installation with docker?

jjakc ,
@jjakc@lemthony.com avatar

No, with the Ansible method. I tried the docker method, but it really didn’t want to work for me.

If you go the Ansible way though make sure you’re using a Debian 11 based OS

Protegee9850 , to selfhosted in Caddy > Traefik > NPM

You’ve got those carrots in the wrong direction.

karlthemailman ,

Any specific reason you think they should be backwards? I have only limited exposure to the alternatives, but caddy was the easiest for me to set up when I was looking for a reverse proxy.

My main issue with caddy was having to compile in any extensions manually, but you don’t even need to do that anymore.

Protegee9850 ,

Eh, personally I just found NPM super easy to set up and manage, especially when it came to setting up letsencrypt etc. Everything just works. Easy to update, easy to manage, easy to take down and spin back up again. My OP had a bit of snark though, I’m not exactly an expert, I’m sure there are very good reasons why the OP and other smart nerds on this community may disagree

My biggest (only real) gripe with it is the “sit by and watch a civilisation die from something we could prevent inside five minutes without ever being noticed” shtick.

airclay , to piracy in If you're sad RARBG closed, give the qbitorrent search a try.
@airclay@kbin.social avatar

Using radarr/sonarr/jackett/transmission for a lil over a year now and forgot about searching for torrents like this already. Oh the pain.

gi1242 , to nostupidquestions in Why does it feel like we're at a point where every social media + other digital media are making shitty decisions and falling apart?

What were the bad decisions discord is making? Im out of the loop

mirisbowring , to piracy in Why don't scene groups sign their releases with PGP?

I am not too deep into the scene, but i could imagine that this is not neccessarily desired since every signed release could be linked to them from a forensic and juristic perspective. (in the case they are arrested)

wass12 , to warframe in What is the Warframe's community's stance on the Reddit blackout and what are your next steps?

I don’t mind the move, and Lemmy has some nice features, like seeing upvote and downvote count separately. Shedding the downvote bots is also nice. The only thing that stings is losing access to the old Reddit posts there. If Lemmy gonna be the new status quo, the subreddit should be set to read-only instead.

mirisbowring , to piracy in Advice for dealing with Abmahnung from Frommer Legal in Germany

Since a move is tracked by the „Bürgeramt“ they will find you since this is a jurisdical topic.

About ten years ago, a friend got such letter about 700€ and they argued that the wifi was public (hotspot mode) and they did not know who did that.

Besides, those are the reasons why torrents are nearly dead in Germany as far as i know.

db0 ,
@db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

they’re not dead. They’re concentrated in very paranoid private trackers

Roxxor ,

I just use Transmission in docker and VPN with killswitch. Done.

aspseka ,

But Bürgeramt is not allowed to share that information with third parties. It will only do so if they try to push criminal charges. Which they supposedly already did to obtain her name in the first place. If that case is closed (and it will most likely be closed at some point), then they are out of luck.

c2h6 , to maliciouscompliance in Admin work matters!

Some companies succeed partially because of management, others succeed DESPITE their management…

Serdan , to maliciouscompliance in [REPOST] You can't continue working from home because you go idle in chat too often

A good example of how capitalists want exclusive ownership of your time, even to the detriment of productivity.

theblueredditrefugee ,

No kidding! It’s like they don’t even care about profit, they just want to hurt people

stephfinitely , to nostupidquestions in Why does it feel like we're at a point where every social media + other digital media are making shitty decisions and falling apart?
@stephfinitely@kbin.social avatar

Because of capitalism, no seriously these decisions are based on money and growth. But both of these things are relatively finite. You can't keep have exponential growth year after year. Eventually you will plateau but there isnt a mechanism in capitalism to accept that. So companies start forcing monetary gain.

goat ,

Growth for the sake of growth is the ideology of cancer.

Snowpix ,

And like cancer, it will eventually kill its host once things are beyond saving.
