PrimeMinisterKeyes , to asklemmy in Men in their 40s, what’s one piece of advice for men in their 20s?
  • Don’t be afraid of loneliness; don’t be afraid of too many people around; don’t be afraid of sharing your life with an SO you think you don’t really know. As you age, these phases tend to blunt and blend together, like the seasons. The only thing you really have, in the end, is yourself.
  • Adult life is a lot more about compromising than fighting. Don’t make other people’s life shitty on purpose, neither allow them to make yours shitty.
  • Get your regular medical check-outs.
  • Leave a place if you positively can’t stand it any longer, and start from scratch. It’ll be okay.

I want to use global keyboard shortcuts with Wayland that can be defined in the application, not the compositor. This makes using Wayland much more difficult for me.

And I also want to use proper Flatpak file permissions, but for Flatpaks to stop generating fake stupid random file paths so that this common issue stops being an issue:

Come in and set the file path to my games directory in my emulator. It works fine. Come back a few days later and it loses all memory of games, because it is receiving a file path from a portal that no longer exists.

volvoxvsmarla , to nottheonion in Ohio Supreme Court rules boneless chicken wings can have bones

Ok as someone not from the states, wtf are boneless chicken wings?

jwmgregory ,

we call the 2 cuts of meat we traditionally take off of poultry’s arms “wings.” typically you’ll get one half of the arm versus another. you’d either get a drumstick wing, with all the meat on one bone; or flats, which have less meat & two bones, much like your lower arm.

chicken wings served this way are very popular here but many do not like or do not want to deal with the bones. so additionally, processed “boneless” chicken wings are available. they’re exactly the same thing as chicken nuggets usually, just bigger. ground poultry reconstituted into morsels

nexas_XIII ,

I would argue that unlike nuggets they are cuts off the chicken breast and you can still see “threads” of meat as opposed to nuggets which are ground into a paste. I know it’s a home recipe but this is what I usually experience at restaurants www.persnicketyplates.com/boneless-wings/

Ptsf , to retrogaming in My experience with eBay Buyer Protection

I once bought an Intel processor off of ebay for a similar "great, but not too great to be a scam " price. The seller shipped “it” and provided the tracking code with a delivery date to my municipality. When it finally read as delivered I checked my porch and sure enough, nothing. So I reach out to usps the shipping provider with the tracking info. Turns out this seller didn’t even send it to my address, but a random po box in my city. I called ebay with this information (as well as the identical complaints of the exact same experience from several other people who bought from this seller who’d dropped negative reviews in the past week. No big deal, clearly a hacked account used for a scam, right?). Well, ebay told me that despite them not using my shipping address, provably (I had the usps rep who was kind enough put that in writing), and despite the other negative reviews with the same experience, they’d not be giving me a refund since the product was shipped. It took days of arguing over the phone with them, them threatening to close my (in good standing since I’d bought things here and there) account, and them closing my case unresolved for me to just file a charge back with my credit card provider. This caused my account to be closed (losing access to all previous order receipts/etc) and is coincidentally the day I decided I’d never do business with Ebay again and provide my honest feedback on this experience to anyone considering purchasing from them in the future.

I have about 24TB, lots of stuff backed up over many years, and not all of it pirated. In making backups over such a long period of time, I’ve actually managed to make redundant backups, so a recent project of mine is to just go to my NAS and organize, consolidate, and otherwise delete things I don’t actually wish to keep. I’ve saved a couple TBs and I hope to free up a few more TBs.

Rougly 3TB of TV shows (720p) and films (1080p, x265 at around 4mbps that I ripped myself including the subs and multiple language tracks), as well as about 500GB of music (FLAC) most of it from my physical library.
