Not for most duff you mentioned, but the adbreaks themselves:
Our old dvr enabled us to skip ads in the recorded tv programs pretty accuratley. It set chapter markings whenever an ad-block began/ended which it figured out by the frequency of hard cuts as ads have them between every ad (so multiple times a minute) whlie normal programming usually does not. This was way pre-AI (like late 00s). Sadly the built in dvrs in our tvs after that did not have that function, but maybe there is a modern implimentation somewhere.
man IDK, i know a lot of vegans and none of them are silent about it. they’re all deeply passionate people and that’s not necessarily bad, but they’re definitely not quiet.
I actually figured they were against the vegan cat food thing, since the whole debate started due to cats being obligate carnivores and vegans killing them by refusing to feed them meat.
On my instance a guy opened a community where he posted cooking recipes he liked. There was a vegan that complained that they contained meat. The vegan got a lot of deserved flak for that. Even from other vegans.
No the problem is that it’s enough if there is one asshat around giving everyone a bad name. Instead of contributing complaints was the only thing added.
You’re not going to convince convert anyone by attacking them. And now several people had a bad experience and may make these jokes, because for them it’s not a joke, but it is real. Show the alternative that it’s good and easy. Everything else is already a lost battle.
I don’t think there’s a barrier to monetizing beyond developer motivation to write it. Though, I also like strange ideas like providing users the ability to sell irrevocable advertising space next to their comments as NFTs if they have these ads enabled.

My only complaint with Mull is the 60hz lock. I know it’s inevitable if you want ‘resist fingerprinting’ enabled, but it is really noticeable after using 120hz for a while.
I can’t help but think it should be possible as it’s a client-sided issue, and there is no reason the browser can’t simply advertise itself as 60hz but actually allow 120hz scrolling, but this is something for Mozilla to fix.
It’s not quite the same since there was no reason to believe CFCs would be dangerous. They checked for toxicity to humans and that was about it. It never occurred to anyone to simulate interactions with atmospheric particles, meteorological science was almost non-existent back then, it was essentially just limited to weather forecasting.
It never could do anyone to worry about what might happen 100+ years in the future.
But yeah he had absolutely no excuse for lead in gasoline, that’s fine back as the Romans we knew lead was toxic.
I remember when I was in college running a hackintosh. I was at the end of the hall and had awful Wi-Fi reception, so I just had my desktop emitting Wi-Fi for me and my dorm mate. I pirated some stuff but never seeded. I told my roommate about pirating and whatnot and showed him how to pirate Parks and Recreation. He didn’t turn off seeding. The university banned my MAC address, but luckily I could spoof one and have internet. He had to go to the dean and tell him he was sorry and that he won’t do it again to get my hardware MAC banned so I didn’t have to change it every time I booted up.
The fact that it was so simple for me to get around this ban was hilarious.
However, one thing people have not mentioned yet is exchange rates and foreign trade. The republican candidates have reportedly been talking about devaluing the dollar in order to increase exports and reduce the trade deficit. A strong dollar makes US exports more expensive for people overseas, and imports cheaper in the US. Devaluation runs a big risk of creating huge inflation domestically even if it props up exports.
