It depends on the dataset. If the dataset itself is very large, just walking it to figure out what the incremental part is can take a while on spinning disks. Concrete example - Immich instance with 600GB of data, hundreds of thousands of files, sitting on a 5-disk RAIDz2 of 7200RPM disks. Just walking the directory structure and getting the ctimes takes over an hour. Suboptimal hardware, suboptimal workload. The only way I could think of speeding it up is using ZFS itself to do the backups with send/recv, thus avoiding the file operations altogether. But if I do that, I must use ZFS on the backup machine too.
I’ve yet to meet any service that can’t recover smoothly from a kill -9 equivalent, any that did sure wouldn’t be in my list of stuff I run anymore.
Currently duplicity but rsync took similar amount of time. The incremental change is typically tens or hundreds of files, hundreds of megabytes total. They take very little to transfer.
If I can keep the service up while it’s backing up, I don’t care much how long it takes. Snapshots really solve this well. Even if I stop the service while creating the snapshot, it’s only down for a few seconds. I might even get rid of the stopping altogether but there’s probably little point to that given how short the downtime is. I don’t have to fulfill an SLA. 😂

Maybe the engine noise hit a resonance frequency of the camera chip - most cameras during operation suspends part of the camera in magnetic field, which also allows for focus and stabilization.
I think it’s an alright deal for the $345 one. More than Ebay prices but used Thinkpads are definitely worth it. I don’t think it’s worth going for the i7 for that much more if you’re just doing office type work.
I teach online a lot (1on1) and I need it to handle recording my screen with OBS without stutters. Plus a good webcam. Does it still sound like a good option then?
I’ve used OBS on desktop PCs with a 7th gen CPU without noticeable issues for work. I can’t say for certain but you should be fine with that laptop for your needs.
I’ve got a similar use case and went with an X13 Thinkpad (AMD). It’s good for hardware support, but if you want a good experience for watching videos, I’d look somewhere else. The display and audio are not that good.
Poor leadership. A good leader can set the tone for better or worse. Unfortunately leadership is very rarely taught, so bosses tend fall back on their upbringing. A leader is at the front working harder than everyone else and suffering with their team, a boss is at the back telling everyone to work harder while suffering nothing. A boss who is also a leader is far to rare.
I haven’t actually tried myself; but I’ve read many DRMs can be defeated by simply running the service in a VM, then screen recording the VM from the host.
Try to directly screen capture Netflix for example, and the webpage will appear as a solid black box in the recording; but not if the capture is done from outside the VM.
That seems like a real problem given they are a people being actively subjected to genocide which is being censored and distorted by western media, who have their land stolen, their existence denied, and been subjected to apartheid sponsored by the most powerful nation in the world (the US no less) in flagrant violation of international law for over half a century. Abuses and genocide carried out by a regime so powerful, so important to US interests that there are multiple states in the US where you can lose your job or your business contract for simply voicing support for boycotting and divesting from the apartheid regime that is an illegal colonization and occupation of stolen land by radical far-right reactionary ethno-fascists operating under the cloak of religion. Most major western media are some degree of complicit in giving one-sided pro-apartheid state slants, omitting key details, and using dishonest framing to attempt to deceive the public and manufacture apathy and complicity.
I actually agree with most of that, but the couple I’m troubled by are rather important.
The main one being these slants and key details you say are omitted. Before I go into it, though, I assume you’re talking about the historical context of the conflict?
