We’ve been using a customized ERPNext for about 7 years though. But it’s just a web-based application, so any client’s fine.

Dolibarr is Well Known in Europe, also Odoo, but they are near ERP than accounting.

Mostly accounting software nowadays are lean towards akunting based on Laravel stuff…

It’s should not bound to any jurisdiction, as it operate overseas, because IIX and OpenIXP network sucks to go to International network.

I’ve always been a really fast reader so yeah if I don’t finish a book in the first couple of days I’ve pretty much lost all interest in it.

comedy , to nostupidquestions in What goes into writting books?
    @comedy@kbin.social avatar

Write something at first; maybe use one of your partial ideas and really concentrate on making something small, but good. Now, put that away somewhere out of the way, but still accessible.

Now, write something else entirely. Maybe another small project. Keep going. Write more. Do a little writing each day, and in between, read stuff written for different audiences. Read MLK's "Letters from a Birmingham Jail." Read some sci-fi. Read a comic book. Read a boring, dry report about something. Absorb, then write again.

Now, after a month or so, maybe two, pull out the first thing you wrote. It will give you a good gauge of the progress you've made. And you might hate what you wrote, and that's OK, as long as you realize that the first thing you wrote is the floor, and you're only going to get better from that point on. Finally, plan! Sometimes creative genius can come out of the ether, but it's best to plan and not rely on that happening. Give yourself a destination and rough idea of how you'll get there. Then let the wind take you.

    Best of luck, and enjoy!

lol no they aren’t. I get the impression you’re pretty inexperienced given your responses in this post.

Aerosmith, collectively, hasn’t got enough to throw at something to make it do what they want it to. They have maybe a few hundred million all put together. Bezos, Musk, even Trump who exists on credit and grifting can and do do that. It’s those kind of people (and I use the term “people” loosely) that the saying is directed at.

I had an old MacBook Pro laying around so I put docker on it for fun.

it’s currently running an apache web server for me (with php) and has been rock solid. (I used to use mamp.)

I also run homebridge for my Apple Home on the mbp. homebridge uses brew (from brew.sh) for install/dependencies/etc.

heavyboots , to books in How do you decide when to give up on a book?

I generally give up after 100 pages or so if it hasn’t caught my interest by then.

Life is too short to slog through a book just because other people liked it.

Vestria , to gaming in I finally got a Switch! What now?

If you like Harvest Moon, the new games are trash but the Story of Seasons games are really good for scratching that itch.

Metroid Dread and the Metroid Prime Remaster are both excellent.

In spite of their technical limitations and lazy graphical fidelity, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are legitimately fun games.

DioField Chronicle and Triangle Strategy if you like strategy games.

Octopath Traveller 1 and 2, Bravely Default II (the first game was a 3DS title), and the Xenogears games if you like story heavy RPGs.

There are decent multi-platform ports like The Witcher 3 and Persona 5 Royal if you missed them, as well.

jordanlund , to nostupidquestions in Is it worth paying the reaminder of my car loan off?

Pay it off and start paying yourself $350 a month.

    RGB3x3 ,

No, don’t do this. Invest the lump sum of money now because at zero interest, you’re not gaining anything by paying it off.

The lump sum of 12k will be worth much more invested now than 350 a month trying to get back to that amount

sloonark , to nostupidquestions in What goes into writting books?

Writing a novel is really hard and takes a lot of skill. My advice is to start by writing short stories to develop your writing ability. Post them online to get feedback. Keep slowly improving until you are good enough to write something longer.

There are plenty of online writing sites where users post their work for feedback. One good one is Critique Circle.
