I’ve been doing small hosting off and on for a while. Mainly for accessing files at home and the occasional Minecraft server. Not smart, as I’ve never used a specialized router. I used to use ddwrt, but now it’s impossible to flash most consumer grade routers....
I’ll start: for Germany, I’d go for Die Ärzte. A rock/pop/punk band from the 80s which is still active today. One of my all-time favorites because I grew up with them :)...
Anyone here got any recommendations for paid cloud storage options? Given where we are I’m looking for piracy friendly options.
It reminds me how Imgur is often discussing images that were uploaded for Reddit and OP will never know about all the comments.
Mine is “palimpsest”. I first encountered this word while reading The Secret History by Donna Tartt....

I come from Reddit where I could see all of the posts I’ve upvoted on a page in my profile. Now I’m trying out Jerboa for Lemmy, but so far I haven’t been able to find a way to see all of the posts I’ve upvoted....
Not only the obvious “AITA for leaving my mafia boss husband after he murdered my family” deleted AmITheAngel crossposted posts that everybody knows it’s fake, but also, some viral post that everybody believed to be true and they never called it out or realized it too late after some ridiculous update.
I’m part of a small team that collaborates on projects. There’s up to 50 projects in the queue or in progress at a time, all projects are very similar to one another....
See the comments for sources and prompts used. The information below is “as is” and may contain inaccuracies. For me, it was just a fun experiment to see to what extent chatbots can help us with choosing a smartphone....
Hi there, I want to share some thoughts and want to hear your opinions on it....

I’m only getting an average of 9.21 Mbps from my Synology NAS to my remote Mac device. My NAS is connected to LAN with an internet speed of ±300Mbps. I don’t expect 300Mbps through Tailscale, but a 80-100Mbps would suffice....
I am an avid retro gaming fan. I mostly play JRPG games like Final Fantasy or Chrono Trigger but recently I’ve had very little time to enjoy big, complicated games. I am looking for recommendations for retro games that can be played over a longer peroid of time, but don’t require a big time investment (re-) learning the...
Not your best, but your worst! B-Movies abound!...
I had been feeling a bit drawn in to reddit for the past few months before the divorce. I feel like the slower pace at which content comes out on Lemmy is good for me in that way. I can’t just scroll and scroll and scroll my entire day away....
Last fall I moved into an apartment with a plum tree in the front yard. I don’t know anything about plants or trees or fruit, and now that summer is here there are hundreds of plums dangling off this tree. They’re attracting millions of ants, as well as raccoons, possums, rats, and a few bold humans who I’ve caught...
An example: www.thenextdroid.com/topics/tutorials/root/. This Ellis Gibson person. Very good with the find/replace button....
I liked the Saturday APPreciation threads on /r/Android and found them really useful for discovering new apps. How about we get something similar rolling here?
I can’t find the reason of this yellow background. Because the comment is posted by a specific account?
I’ve not had a good day today. The kids have been shits, my wife has winged at me for not doing something I have already done, I’m hot, tired and stressed from work and fed up of not having a good nights sleep due to my 3 year old waking us up in the middle of the night constantly....
Hello everyone! Once again, I would first like to say thank you to every one of you for being here! This will be a series of weekly posts where we give feedback to you & listen to what our users have to say. It is also fit for any type of general discussion....
I’m on KDE Plasma with Nvidia and Wayland with the proprietary 530 drivers but really the experience (due to Nvidia’s own fault) doesn’t feel polished at all although it’s very smooth, but the fact of having to be constantly switching between Xorg and Wayland because one or another program doesn’t behave the way it...
