I am wondering what can be done in Linux to reduce CPU power consumption. In Windows, I’m familiar with setting and testing power limits and undervolting using Throttlestop (amazing tool), but to my knowledge no such tool (command line or otherwise) exists for Linux....

Hi—I have some free Azure credits and would like to use them to host a personal Lemmy instance. I know Lemmy is containerised, but is there a preferred choice for hosting in Azure—AKS, Azure Container Apps, Container Instances? Also, any guidance on appropriate PostgreSQL configuration—I know there are some options around...
In addition to teaching lots of private lessons and directing three teenage performance groups, I also direct an adult band, which currently has eight people between about 30 and 70 in it. I’m 28 and my codirector is in his 30s, but this week, he was out, so the school owner guy, who’s in his 40s, subbed for him, making me...

Is this based on instance performance accepting the subscription, or is it a generalize Lenny bug where it doesn’t send it properly?
We are aware images aren’t loading and new images can't be uploaded. It appears to be a bug with the latest Lemmy update as we’re not the only instance with this problem. We have filed a bug report and are looking into possible solutions and hopefully it will get fixed soon. We are also looking into better ways to...
I’ve heard a few people on here are starting their own personal instances so they can federate independently with different instances without relying on a larger, third-party instance. If I wanted to do this, would I need to own an actual server, separate from my PC?
First, some background: I first became aware of PC gaming in 2012 (15yrs after HL1, 7yrs after HL2). I played both games back-to-back and then later replayed both separately....
My title of choice would probably be Daggerfall because it’s just so ambitious and truly offers an experience none of the other elder scrolls games offer. That being said it is kinda an example of a sequel eclipsing it’s predecessors as well given it is more or less a straight improvement over Arena in every way.
I just noticed their instance pop up in the feddit browser and they are huge and established. Who are they? Whats the vig? Should I join some of their communities or do they have a particular agenda they’re pushing?
My use case is I’m transferring large already encrypted files between two servers connected via wireguard....
When I subscribe in a community in another instance it always says "pending " in yellow. I can comment but I am not officially subscribed to the community. E.g. subscribing to “!nostupidquestions”...
I have tried out Gnome, KDE, Lxqt and Xfce on a regular desktop and all of them feel nice. I haven’t tried many DE’s on a laptop....
