What's a good replacement for Imgur to link pictures/albums to Lemmy?
I used Imgur a lot to post pictures to reddit and since I replaced reddit with lemmy already I thought it would be nice to replace Imgur as well....
What's achievement in videogames are you most proud of?
Maybe it’s that first PUBG victory, or becoming a Grand Champion on Rocket League. Maybe it’s the time you got passed that awfully difficult level, or the time you actually got around to finishing your backlog....
I don't find any value in Red-Hat but I see their corporate thinking. Who really need them and why?
I see all the drama around Red-hat and I still don’t get why companies would use RHEL (or centos when it existed). I was in many companies and CentOS being years behind was awful for any recent application (GPU acceleration, even new CPU had problems with old Linux kernels shipped in CentOS)....
Debates are dead and we killed them
started thinking about it unironically in the shower, but then it all spiraled till I got this....
Could this become a "Caring is Sharing" sub, just like the old days
For too long imo, piracy had become a “grab it all” environment. The old “Caring is Sharing” mantra seems to have disappeared. So maybe, this Lemmy could revert back 20-30 years to become a real sharing community. IDK.
At what systemic level do we start to see living beings making decisions rather than purely chemical reactions?
Starting from a molecule on up, to cells and beyond, at what system level is a being actually making a decision rather than reacting to their chemical environment based on purely chemical laws? For example, the molecules in a cells are solely reacting to their environment based on chemical fundamentals. However, a person thinks...
Are you guys tired of "Material You" design?
Are you guys tired of the "Material You" design? I don't really like the huge paddings on everything aspect of it. Also a lot of it feels too flat. What do you guys think?
[Question] Best way to set up docker containers that depend on other container
Hi guys! I have several docker containers running on my home server set up with separated compose files for each of them, including a Pihole one that serves as my home DNS. I created a network for it and a fixed IP but I couldn’t find a way to set fixed IPs to the other containers that use the Pihole network. Well everything...
[GUIDE][LineageOS][19.1] microG + SafetyNet
[Saved before deleting from Reddit] This post is based on Reddit post but adopted to my experience. ROM will be able to pass BASIC SafetyNet Attestation: working most(~95% as of now) banking apps, Google Pay; Google Contants Cloud Sync will work as expected; applications that do not support Magisk overlays will still work. For...
Is there a 5 min tutorial for Github
So, I was trying to use the official “web app” for Lemmy, and, once again, it’s just a link to Github. I’m no programmer and I just want to use the app, but have no clue what all those files are for. The tutorials on YouTube are like 1 hours long and are intended for programmers. It kind of happens more and more (links...
How come "petting the dog" became a meme in video games?
I see a lot of hype about being able to pet dogs in video games. Why?
What are the best phones with headphone jacks?
At least for the next few years, I am pretty firm on needing a jack on my device....

I can only log in when I change my password. Is there something I am missing? (11th day UPDATE)
I can only log in when I change my password. The password-changing process manages to log me in. I cannot log in, at all, in any other way. Not in any internet browser, even in clean installs. When I click the login button it just keeps spinning forever. The Jerboa app is the only thing giving me any info because it always says,...
YSK: How Lemmy Works
Why YSK: Because intuitive explanations are few and far between, and the technical explanations often present too many "trees" and not enough "forest", which is just how technically-minded people are trained to approach things. Forests are, after all, made of trees, and it's not their fault we don't care about individual...
Does anyone else sometimes feel overwhelmed by (big) games?
I've recently found that big (mostly open world) games tend to overwhelm or even intimidate me. I'm a big fan of the Rockstar games and absolutely adored Breath of the Wild, but my playthrough of Tears of the Kingdom has been a bit rocky from the get-go....
Reddit’s decline will look more like Tumblr’s than Digg’s
Even in its prime, Tumblr was never profitable. It was sold and resold to several companies who never had a clear vision for what to do with it, other than run ads to generate revenue. Its main draw was its users. For several years it was the social media platform for LGBTQ and fandoms, along with many niche interests....

Any reason why not to merge with the Piracy community on "lemmy.dbzer0.com"?
The other community (!piracy) is mostly the old Reddit one. It’s more active than this one.

Is Windows 11 worth installing over 10?
I don’t really like Windows but it’s for my gaming PC. My laptop does run linux. I don’t know much of anything about 11 and whether it’s better or not.
YSK that you can follow peertube channels as if they're communties in lemmy (and presumably kbin)
I was waiting until I saw something show up in my feed to verify and I just saw it....
