Out of curiosity, where do you have your backup account in case of outage or shutdown of your home instance? This has been on my mind since the .ml fiasco started.

So here’s the thing, every time I try to move away from Facebook messenger I run into the same problem, nobody else in my friends or family actually want to use a secure, private messenger app like signal or telegram, my wife, my parents, my in-laws, my friends they’re ALL on Facebook and they will never take signal...

I set it up sort of as an experiment, and then I realized that I liked having my own instance, as it makes me (mostly) immune to outages due to things outside my control, defederation drama, etc. So I decided that I am going to stick with having my own instance....

Hi, In short: will I run the risk of receiving an angry Hetzner e-mail telling me to stop downloading torrents when I configer my local deluge client to connect through a local gluetun VPN client to a selfhosted wireguard vpn on a hetzner server? For me, it was PhotoPrism. I used to be an idiot, and used Google Photos as my gallery. I knew that it was terrible for privacy but was too lazy to do anything about it. When Google limited storage for free accounts, I started looking for alternatives. Tried out a lot of stuff, but ended up settling on PhotoPrism....

Why YSK: I have seeing been a lot of general posts on various communities where they don’t belong. There is a perfect community for this....
