Almost every time I ask a direct question, the two AI answers almost always directly contradict each other. Yesterday I asked if vinegar cuts grease. I received explanations for both why its an excellent grease cutter, and why it doesn’t because it’s an acid.

I think this will be a major issue with AI. Just because it was trained on a huge wealth of knowledge doesn’t mean that it was trained on correct knowledge.

kent_eh ,

Just because it was trained on a huge wealth of knowledge doesn’t mean that it was trained on correct knowledge.

Which makes its correct answers and it’s confidently wrong answers look as plausible as each other. One needs to apply real intelligence to determine which to trust, makikg the AI tool mostly useless.

Exactly!

I don’t see any reason being trained on writing informed by correct knowledge would cause it to be correct frequently. unless you’re expecting it to just verbatim lift sentences from training data

They say it works without an internet connection, and if that’s true this could be pretty awesome. I’m always skeptical about interacting with chatbots that run in the cloud, but if I can put this behind a firewall so I know there’s no telemetry, I’m on board.

halfwaythere ,

You can already do this. There are plenty of vids that show you how and it’s pretty easy to get started. Expanding functionality to get it to act and respond how you want is a bit more challenging. But definitely doable.

On what?

There is nothing on there that you couldn’t find an equivalent of in text form(web or paper) or in the millions of hours of TV and film available on and off the web(both legal and not so legal) or on other platforms like twitch/nebula/peertube/lbry.

stockRot ,

Are we really not okay with using YouTube but are okay with using Twitch?

And don’t deny that using Peertube amounts to using YouTube

spiderplant ,

I’m not a fan of either and would advocate everyone not consume large amounts of video content because of how heavy it is from an environmental point of view and move away from corporations from an anticapitalist/freedom point if view.

Let’s not kid ourselves though, as shit as twitch is, it does not come close to having the same grip google has on the internet and our lives.

Peertube is a completely different platform, perhaps you’re mixing it up with YouTube clients like newpipe or invidious?

Paid streaming and smart tvs were always a scam to try to get computer-functionality in a TV, but lock it down so you can only serve people garbage.

If you want to stream something, just stream it for free here: fmovies.to

All you need is ublock origin. No credit card required. No signups.

But yeah, everyone jumps to say “x isn’t on y, or z isn’t on t” rather than just share how to watch it all for free.

I love that there’s loads of these sites.

Been watching a load of old crap on them recently. Stuff like Timecop. It’s like discovering an old world that the regular streaming services forgot.

“Piracy is almost always a service problem and not a pricing problem.” said Father Gabe years ago. And he’s right. If there was one legit service that had all this stuff, all you can eat streaming, for like £30 a month, all in as high quality as they made it, surround sound and all the trimming, I’d pay it.

But they don’t, so I nick it.
