I am glad to read all these reports, investigations and of course the emotional laden criticisms of actors associated with this. Because each time I check aviation incidents in Russia, they determine in the first 24 hours it must have been the pilots fault.

autotldr Bot , to world in Al Jazeera bureau chief's son Hamza al-Dahdouh among journalists killed in Gaza

This is the best summary I could come up with:

His wife Amna, his grandchild Adam, his 15-year-old son Mahmoud and seven-year-old daughter Sham all died in an Israeli strike.

According to Hisham Zaqout, an Al Jazeera correspondent, Hamza and a group of journalists were en route to the Moraj area northeast of Rafah - which was designated a “humanitarian zone” by the Israeli army - but which had reportedly experienced recent bombings.

It also showed his father Wael al-Dahdouh in tears, holding his hand and standing next to his body in a morgue in Khan Younis.

Wael al-Dahdouh was himself wounded and his cameraman Samer Abu Daqqa was killed in a separate strike while filming last month.

“Al Jazeera Media Network strongly condemns the Israeli occupation forces’ targeting of Palestinian journalists’ car,” the company said in a statement, accusing Israel of “violating the principles of freedom of the press”.

Mark Regev, a senior adviser to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, told the BBC’s World This Weekend that “Israel does not deliberately target journalists”.

You know, awhile ago the leader of the KKK came out and said they aren’t going to kill black people anymore because “they’re doing a fine job killing themselves” in reference in gang violence.

I feel like a similar thing is occurring among the most trashiest of whites.

roguetrick , to world in Florida shooting: Mum fatally shot over Christmas present row

What are they arresting the 15 year old for? Littering?

Bayz0r ,

For shooting the younger brother.

squiblet , (edited )
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

I guess the younger brother shot her, then the 15 year old attempted to kill his younger brother.

The 15-year-old was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder and tampering with evidence.

Seems like it could be considered self-defense though. Obviously one fucked up thing is that both of these kids were carrying pistols at their Christmas parties.

roguetrick , (edited )

The 14 year old is the one who shot his sister. The attempted murder charge is for shooting him in response and the tampering with evidence is for throwing his gun away. Hence: littering.

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

Yeah, i figured that out and edited my comment. But no, throwing away a weapon you just shot someone with is not considered merely littering. Why would he think he could cover that up by tossing his gun? Tell the cops the kid shot himself I guess but that wouldn't pass ballistic evidence.

roguetrick ,

I don't think he did, I was just making a joke. That said, I personally would not carry around a gun after shooting someone with the police after me. That's a fine way to get yourself killed.

squiblet ,
@squiblet@kbin.social avatar

The most responsible thing to do at that point would be to stash the gun somewhere in the house, not leave, and wait for police to arrive. But I can see why he would be freaking out. And of course, who knows what would happen when the police arrive.

Rinox ,

Why would he think he could cover that up by tossing his gun?

He’s 15, just shot his little brother, saw his sister die and is freaking the fuck out.

But yeah, he should have been better at pondering the ramifications of his actions 🧐

I get where the other poster is coming from tho, it sounds like 3500 women alive right now will have this type of pregnancy (1 in a million of 3.5bn women)

However, I think its of the .3% that are born dicavitary, there is THEN a 1 in a million shot to have both uteri fertilized, which means it would only happen once every few generations.

Czech police say several people have been killed and “dozens” injured in a shooting near a university in central Prague.

University staff were told to “stay put”, barricade themselves in rooms and turn off the lights, Reuters reported.

Targ Patience, a British-Australian who was staying in a flat near the scene, told the BBC that he heard “a lot of gunshots”.

Unverified images from the scene appeared to show people clinging onto the outside wall of the university building, several storeys up.

It read: “Stay put, don’t go anywhere, if you’re in the offices, lock them and place furniture in front of the door, turn off the lights.”

“This is naturally filtered, purified water, you can drink it,” says cave diver Bernadette Carrión as we enter a cenote dubbed “Oppenheimer”, in reference to the surrounding devastation.

As we wade and swim through the underground maze, renowned Mexican hydrologist Guillermo D. Christy points out the karstic topography, which is where erosion of the limestone has carved out the rivers and caves.

As the team takes samples to measure water quality, they do not mince their words about the train, calling it a “pharaonic monument” which they say was erected to a vainglorious leader.

Some villagers whose land was expropriated were well compensated by the government and polls suggest more than 80% in the region are optimistic the train will boost the economy, particularly among Amlo’s core supporters.

He hails it as an engineering feat to rival any in the world, especially given the porous rock beneath the track and assures us it was built to rigorous codes and standards.

As part of his grand plan, some 20,000km (12,500 miles) of track currently used exclusively for transporting cargo will serve passengers again and a coast-to-coast freight line is being created to rival the Panama Canal.

autotldr Bot , to world in Cystic fibrosis: The miracle drugs priced out of reach

This is the best summary I could come up with:

In February, legal papers were filed with the South African High Court, seeking a compulsory licence that would allow the supply of more affordable generic versions of the CF drug.

Research led by Dr Andrew Hill, of the University of Liverpool pharmacology department, found the basic production cost for these drugs was less than $6,000 (£4,790) a year per patient.

The government began discussing invoking what is known as a Crown use licence, which would have swept aside the company’s exclusivity rights to these drugs and allowed the UK to buy in generic, vastly cheaper versions of the treatment.

But some patients, desperate for access to these drugs in the meantime, took matters into their own hands and created a buyers club, flying to Argentina to buy a generic version produced by a company there.

And these results were published before the announcement the UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency had extended the licences of Kaftrio and Kalydeco to two- to five-year-olds, which will increase the amounts needed for NHS patients.

The second NICE committee meeting to discuss the comments submitted during the consultation period is on Thursday, with a final recommendation regarding NHS funding for these treatments expected next spring.

These days I generally only listen to Alt Rock but that is still a broad category from it’s start in the early 80s to today. Under Alt Rock falls New Wave, Punk, Post Punk, Grunge, Ska, Emo, and even College or Idie Rock.

I personally find it the most creative, expansive and enjoyable genre for music.
