Hahahahahaha. I never had a twitter account when it was free and not run by that sociopathic representation of the dunning kruger effect. I can't imagine I'll suddenly decide to pay money to get one.

autotldr Bot , to worldnews in Brussels shooting: Police shoot dead attacker who killed Swedes

This is the best summary I could come up with:

It took place on Boulevard d’Ypres, 5km (3 miles) from the stadium where Belgium was playing Sweden to qualify for the Euro 2024 football tournament.

He posted a video online saying he had killed people in the name of God and the prosecutor’s office believes he was inspired by the Islamic State group.

Belgian Interior Minister Annelies Verlinden told Flemish public broadcaster VRT that the automatic weapon found on him was the same as the one used in Monday’s attack.

Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, called Monday’s shooting “a harrowing act of terrorism” in a press conference on Tuesday, and prosecutors said the likely motive were the victims’ nationality.

The attack began at 19:00 on Monday (17:00 GMT), when a man opened fire in the north of the city centre.

Videos shared online showed a man on a scooter, dressed in an orange fluorescent jacket, pull up and start shooting passers-by.

bigFab , to worldnews in Ukraine war: Burger King still open in Russia despite pledge to exit

I know the answer to my question, don’t bother. But let’s all try to come back to the really basic common sense. Burger king topic in a war news channel? For real?

Cruxifux , to worldnews in Ukraine war: Burger King still open in Russia despite pledge to exit

I’ve already boycotted Burger King just for how aggressively bad their advertising song is.

BruceTwarzen ,

I boycott burger king because it's disgusting

scytale , to worldnews in Time to ditch Amazon Prime?

The only time I had amazon prime was a free trial.

Always used it for free shipping and ordered all the small things which i normally wouldn't order because of shipping costs

scytale ,

You can still do that without prime as long as your purchase totals to $25 (and is shipped by Amazon). I just wait till I hit $25 before buying everything at the same time. Anything important or critical I buy direct and not through amazon anyway.

nightwatch_admin , to worldnews in Time to ditch Amazon Prime?

There is something that I really don’t get. Aren’t we close to critical advertisement mass by now? With all the silly advertising at this point, Amazon, for example, must be advertising on Disney+, while Disney+ is advertising on Netflix.

Bitrot ,

This happens. I’ve seen Prime ads on Hulu where their streaming platform is a prominent feature.

FaeDrifter ,

Advertising going up, prices going up, quality going down, consumer disposable income going down.

Plus the writer and actor strikes that are going to hit content releases hard once they finished releasing already-finished content.

tallwookie , to worldnews in Germany bans neo-Nazi group Hammerskins

good, fucking skinheads are stupid. however, what prevents people from distributing music? VPNs make it trivial to bypass any region locks, and Germany has a lot of borders, it’d be very easy to smuggle in just about anything.

autotldr Bot , to world in BBC News - Quest to bring priest charged with torture in Argentina to justice

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Survivors of crimes committed by the 1970s military junta in Argentina are fighting to see a priest stand trial for his alleged role in kidnappings and torture against opponents of the regime.

The military junta led by Jorge Videla which seized power targeted anyone who opposed the dictatorship and an estimated 30,000 people were killed before the transition to democracy in 1983.

However, as part of that trial, four former detainees - among them Mario Bracamonte - testified that Father Franco Reverberi, an Italian national by birth, had been a regular at the clandestine detention centre.

In 2007, Christian von Wernich, a Catholic priest who worked as a chaplain for the police in Buenos Aires province, was found guilty of complicity in seven murders and dozens of kidnappings and instances of torture.

Twenty-five-year-old student Manuel Furlan says he was “deeply ashamed” when he found out that “a person accused of those crimes, and a priest at that, was originally from and lives in my village”.

The niece of disappeared activist José Guillermo Berón says that she hopes that “justice will finally be done, even if he will never really pay for the enormous damage he has caused since he has lived almost his entire life with total impunity”.

autotldr Bot , to technology in France halts iPhone 12 sales over radiation levels

This is the best summary I could come up with:

On Tuesday, the French watchdog which governs radio frequencies also told the tech giant to fix existing phones.

The ANFR has advised Apple that if it cannot resolve the issue via a software update, it must recall every iPhone 12 ever sold in the country.

But the World Health Organization has previously sought to allay fears about radiation emitted by mobile phones.

Apple told the BBC it was contesting the ANFR’s review, and said it had provided the regulator with lab results from the tech giant itself and third parties which show the device is compliant with all the relevant rules.

France’s digital minister Jean-Noel Barrot told French newspaper Le Parisien the decision was due to radiation levels above the acceptable threshold, according to Reuters.

It comes as the Chinese foreign ministry issued a rebuttal against media reports which claimed government agencies had told staff to stop using iPhones.
