I’m looking for an open-source alternative to ChatGPT which is community-driven. I have seen some open-source large language models, but they’re usually still made by some organizations and published after the fact. Instead, I’m looking for one where anyone can participate: discuss ideas on how to improve the model, write...

Often political leaders at the top need to maintain some diplomatic composure and have the privilege to leave their dirty fights to subordinates. As a result we often don’t realize how much of an asshole these leaders actually are. A good test is to check what they allow (or encourage) their lower ranked allies to get away...
I have a domain and I use a hosted email I use a catchall email address to create an address on the fly for webshops and such. If they get conprimised or spam me I can block that email....
I recently opened the app to ensure that it infact does not work anymore, but it just showed me the newest feed, like it did before. What is going on here? Are people funding this? Or have they switched to a third party API for read only?
I asked a related question here - the one about Boing Boing, Disinfo.com, Dangerous Minds: lemmy.world/post/1001839...
Hi all, a shout-out for assistance. I’m considering hosting a Lemmy instance (assuming I can pass the wife test on costs) and I’m looking for some guidance on specs....

I recently came across LemmyBB, a frontend for Lemmy that is based on the popular forum software phpBB. It seems like a great way to bring the familiar forum experience to the federated world of Lemmy. However, I haven’t seen any significant migration of forums to Lemmy using this UI. What could be the reasons behind this? Are...
Anyone here play it, or variants of it? Or a fan of roguelikes in general?
There’s been games that I can no longer download. Apps that are as if they never existed with it not even showing up in purchase history if it weren’t for old email receipts. It’s pushed me more towards Foss when it is an option....
One of the hurdles to change for users switching from reddit to a federated platform is less content. The logic goes: “smaller community, less content, I can see i’m missing out on stuff over there so I’m not going to switch away”....
I'm missing something....
This thread is where all the takes from idiots (looking at you Armchair Warlord) and screenshots of twitter posts/youtube thumbnails go.
The roll over worry because of hybrid is not an excuse. There are electric hybrids.
This is honestly probably for the best. It’s a really bad idea that we’ve let reddit monopolize niche knowledge
I think apps become really relevant in the federated world, as it allows to manage multiple accounts at the same time, in the same place, allowing for quick switching, etc, while simplifying so much workflow (and making server requests lighter too!)....
I would like to find a list of lemmy communities to find similar to the ones i left behind on reddit...
I just fall on this and didn't know you can't remove stuff from lemmy....
I’m currently using Klipper, and it’s fine, I suppose, but I miss the ability to cycle through the previous clips with simple keypresses, like in the emacs killring (the only thing I miss from my very brief experimentation with emacs back in the day).
