For context: I have an AMD GPU, so drivers will not be a problem. I’ll prefer whichever one has more up-to-date and frequently updated packages. Wayland is a must.

Is it a bad idea to use my desktop to self host?...

I’ll be doing a workshop in a few weeks, and I wanna raise awareness about predatory lootbox paytowin games. I wanna play live, an easy to start playing and understand game, that is so sneaky and predatory that some kid would very easily buy some microtransaction or lootbox without even realizing what they just did....

In the early 2000s, everyone in my bubble knew that PHP was a security nightmare, only seconded by Flash. In the meantime, Adobe gave up on Flash, but PHP is still alive and rocking....

I’m vaguely interested in having a few different encrypted folders on my computer, with different passwords on each. I don’t have any particular strong requirements. It’s more of a velleity; mostly just to try it so that I know more about it....

Or another container type if there’s a better one?...

I recently wanted to watch Harry Potter (you know, a pretty famous movie). I was surprised not to find a single torrent of the movie in Spanish in multiple websites, and once I finally did, the dub was in Spain Spanish (as opposed to latinamerican Spanish)....

I mostly use AMD and have been using Wayland since GNOME 40 without any problems, loving the consistently perfect frames and fantastic scaling (with Wayland programs, but nowadays I use nearly no X11-only programs)....

I have a self hosted HA deployment that hasn’t been updated in a while. I haven’t updated it partially because they made the boneheaded move of deprecating their YAML config in favor of GUI-only config, and partially because the developers are insufferable dickholes....

I currently have my Plex server open to the world. I realise that’s probably not best practice, so I’m trying to find a solution that can work for me....

Currently, I am using Montserrat. Even though it is licensed under Open License Font, I do not feel comfortable using it anymore, probably because it is used in over 17 million websites and is considered overused....

Some services are slowly developing post quantum resistant protocols for their services like Signal or Tutanota. When will this be a thing for the web?

At what age would you stop buying presents for nieces and nephews? I have 3 and they’re all officially out of college now. They live in a different state. When they were little kids the presents made sense but now it seems forced. I just don’t know how to transition away other than just not doing it.
