CompTIA certifications
Are CompTIA certifications still a viable way to get back into IT? I left the workforce at the start of 2020 to be a stay at home and I’m wanting to get recertified so I have options if I want to reenter the workforce....
What drew you to the high seas?
Inspired by a post since deleted, I feel bad for probably coming off judgemental about the poster’s taste in the movie that drove him to consider sailing....
I managed to run The Sims 4 on Linux after over 6 hours
At this point, making something that doesn’t work using Wine or Proton is actually kind of an achievement, so congrats EA, you managed to fuck up both Origin and EA app. The actual game runs flawlessly, it’s the launchers that are all kinds of broken.

Why Didn't Democrats Do More When They Controlled Both Houses of Legislature, The White House, and The Supreme Court During Obama's First Term?
I’ve been wondering for a bit why during the time the Democrats controlled the legislature, executive, and judicial branches during Obama’s first term in 2008 more wasn’t accomplished. Shouldn’t that have been the opportunity to make Row V Way law and fix the electoral college? I understand the recession was going on but...
Why do men call their father their "old man", but their "old lady" is their wife?
How come hotel check-in time is always 3-4?
I got in on an earlier flight, and arrived at 6 it was a pain in the ass… I literally had to walk around for like 4 hours until things opened, and I was so tired and weary all day.
What possible, fundamental, misunderstanding of the nature of the universe could make current academics look like flat earthers?
What do you think of the term "short king" as a term that's supposed to champion body positivity for men?
Body positivity is such a strange concept to me. There’s efforts to reclaim words while simultaneously calling them bad if used as an insult. Ideally, people wouldn’t be offended by someone describing their body with common descriptors, but socially there is so much value attributed to certain body types that it’s almost...
How come there aren't any moral geniuses?
When kids do linear algebra or they rise to the level of GM in chess within the first two decades of their lives, such people are obviously geniuses. Their intelligence is undeniable....

Anyone running Nobara who can answer these questions?
cross-posted from: lemm.ee/post/32128978...
People were really doing martial arts under waterfalls for hours without a break, I stand in the shower for twenty minutes and my skin starts having a tantrum, getting wrinkly and shit.
Help me get AMD HIP to work in Blender

Decision of Next Os
I was Nobara user, then I am using Fedora right now. I want to use things like Hyprland etc. and ya know, Its damn cool to say I am using arch btw. So I’ve decided to use Arch Linux. But everyone says its always breaking and gives problems. That’s because of users, not OS… right? I love to deal with problems but I don’t...
RESOLVED - Can't connect to home server from Android phone
Hi folks, a little troubleshooting help here, please....
What if as I get older, like a Mandela effect, everyone's understanding of what the average life span is increases?
I know this sounds like the basis for a cult or something but it’s kind of a crazy thought.
What file format do you store your media in?
Hello! I recently listened to a podcast that talked about how storing media files in .av1 format is very efficient and storage-friendly. I’ve been storing my files in .mkv format, but now I’m considering using Handbrake or a similar service to convert all my video files to .av1 if it’s more compressed than .mkv. So;...
Does a VPN used on a smartphone with Wi-Fi disabled (mobile data only enabled) provide any sort of protection?
I’ve never completely understood this, but I think the answer would probably be “no,” although I’m not sure. Usually when I leave the house I turn off wifi and just use mobile data (this is a habit from my pre-VPN days), although I guess I should probably just keep it on since using strange Wi-Fi with a VPN is ok (unless...

With Google Workspace cracking down on storage (Been using them for unlimited storage for years now) I was lucky to get a limit of 300TBs, but now I have to actually watch what gets stored lol...

Do we need to create increasingly more children for a stable economy?
So in the whole anti-natalism/pro-natalism conversation (which I’m mostly agnostic/undecided on, currently), my friend who is a pro-natalist, argued that the success/stability of our world economy is dependent on procreating more children each year than the previous year, so that we not only replace the numbers of the people...
Most unique looking celebrities?
I’m working on a side project studying variations in human facial features. It’s been helpful to study celebrity faces because it’s easy to find numerous reference photos. I’ve actually got a fairly good range of weird looking white men, turns out Hollywood is pretty flush with those, but it’s been harder to find...
