Sorry, but they’re more into LuLaRoe.

wolfpack86 ,

The problem is there are more instances of people who own places just to rent. Ban those. But permit people to rent places they actually have established residency in.

As an example… Boyfriends and girlfriends with their own places but spending the night swapping between are also super inefficient usage of resources. I’m obviously not suggesting that couples must live together… But they’re perfect for occasional Airbnb rentals. Rent it for the week and spend that week at your partners. Same with people who travel for work.

I think your dad was behind the times. Mine collected and disposed of the oil properly at a waste station

I’m not a fashionista or anything, but someone should be arrested for the tailoring of that suit. Good God.

Dude this isn’t even India.

It’s clearly a map of Indianapolis.

Russia could have reason to fake his death, but that would be only to facilitate them killing him in a more gruesome way.

wolfpack86 ,

The first wouldn’t be considered general anesthesia. Just heavy sedation.

Disagree. The States will find a way to tax the sale based on destination. The states can move to a different registration/property tax model to recapture the sales tax. See also online shopping sales tax changes.

It’s entirely about lobbying by autodealer trade groups.

wolfpack86 ,

I mean it implies that you pay a premium for them to send someone around if you do it on a per case basis… or you can pay a flat fee. Theyre betting most people that subscribe at the flat fee will not have run up more than $100 in extra margin.

This seems reasonably justifiable, considering groceries is one of the shittiest margin businesses and labor isn’t free.

When chrome was released, Firefox felt bloated visually and slow. I switched to chrome with the initial release, then tried to come back to Firefox some years later. Still felt like it was slow.

Im back trying it again. The desktop browser seems to work alright, but I’m growing weary of the Android app.

How does a patent hold back innovation? Producing the same good isn’t creating something new.

I can agree that overly broad patents are unacceptable. Ie “something but on a computer”.

Why isn't there a "Spotify premium" for news?

I really dislike ad driven publications. I’m not opposed to paying for quality news publication, but for something like NYT, there’s only a couple articles a month I come across that I’m really interested in reading. There problem is that there’s 4-5 other paywalled publications where I have that same issue. I’m...

wolfpack86 ,

I think this would actually drive shittier quality.

Current models, like the preceding model of physical paper delivery, have a relatively fixed income stream from the subscriber base. They make the same amount of money whether the news day is “Japan Attacks Pearl Harbor” level or whether the most interesting story is that a German Shepherd won the AKC dog show.

Under a service that aggregates and pays a minor amount per click, how does NYT stand out above WaPo? Or Ap or Reuters? Click bait headlines and incomplete stories so they can write multiple and get more clicks, because each click is not worth very much.

I think the better model for NYT et al would be to offer a punch card like option: 10 articles, $15… or whatever. They should have enough data to determine what the average number of articles read is, per subscriber, to determine what the tipping point is, and capture some new pay-as-you go subscribers.

When did they remove HEPA filters from modern aircraft?

wolfpack86 ,

Most aircraft have HEPA filters. This was pretty regularly discussed during covid.

A group of researchers said they have found a way to hack the hardware underpinning Tesla’s infotainment system, allowing them to get what normally would be paid upgrades — such as heated rear seats (techcrunch.com)

The researchers will present their research next week at the Black Hat cybersecurity conference in Las Vegas....

Think there’s at least two frames, single and then for dual motor.

I also don’t see how the jury isn’t sequestered either. I’d imagine there are significant safety concerns and thereby additionally concerns about process integrity.

wolfpack86 ,

That was the original idea. Pick people up going the way you’re going. Minimal extra mileage, and get paid for the small inconvenience.

But now people are driving just to drive.

wolfpack86 ,

I agree. I guess the reason would be “national healing”. That neglects that the innate wish for justice requires punishment for half the country to get the catharsis it seeks.

There’s also a point that he needs to go to jail and the country needs to “hurt” and not “heal” to avoid an even worse situation in the future. If Nixon wasn’t pardoned and was convicted, would we have the same political shitshow we have now? Probably not, and I’d hope it wouldn’t be worse.

We can’t let that hinder progress toward implementing the most responsible forms of power generation.

What price per kw generation are you using?

Sweet tea is a drink prepared hot but consumed cold. The cold part is best done via refrigeration. Bringing hot water, tea, and sugar are not going to achieve the same results.

wolfpack86 ,

Every place in the south will additionally have unsweet for those that will use artificial sweetener. Or those that want half and half (to dilute the sugar content, make half sweet, half unsweet).

It’s only outside of the south that you get a singular choice of unsweet.

wolfpack86 ,

Which is insane, given that they could test her blood sugar for pennies in two seconds and still charge her dollars.

It’s not like they need an MRI for that.

wolfpack86 ,

The proposed law would also prohibit burnings of other specified religious texts.

wolfpack86 ,

I think the distinction was that the recent burnings were not tied to a political decision or action made by the countries. It was just to be dicks toward Muslim countries.

Lets say the burning was infront of Saudi embassy after the murder of Jamal Khashoggi. That might be allowed under the proposal.

The whole situation is weird, tbh

wolfpack86 ,

And that’s also why their proposal is specifying what. Torahs, etc. Not sure dianetics would make it.

wolfpack86 ,

I don’t disagree with you.

In fact, I fully agree.

wolfpack86 ,

Who is he going to squeal on? He’s the top target.

wolfpack86 ,

His rights to protection are granted by law. The law can also be revised to state that any former president convicted of a federal level felony and subjected to incarceration are no longer eligible.

It’s the prisons problem, like any other high profile prisoner.

wolfpack86 ,

Id argue it doesn’t matter. Protection is granted at the generosity of Congress. It can be revoked, and should be revoked if he is convicted.

There was a plan that (mind you, the law passed before Obama’s election) W was the last president to recieve lifetime protection. All others coming after would get protection for like 4-8 years, then have to pay for it themselves.

Congress reversed course and revised the law to be lifetime again.

The law can change at any moment. They can easily write "this privledge will end if a former president is convinced of a crime and is incarcerated " and solve the logistics problem. It’s not a right. It’s a privledge.

wolfpack86 ,

I guess we could just just pass a law that any supreme court justice that sits on the bench after attaining the age of 80 will be summarily executed in celebration of their achievements.

Then when the alw is challenged to the court, the textualists can’t argue that it’s cruel and unusual punishment because it is infact a celebration.

wolfpack86 ,

By hurting potential users looking for the naswrdz you’ve diminished the usefulness of the site.

It’s a long play. frankly nobody wins and everyone loses.

wolfpack86 ,

I haven’t got a goddamn clue. I’m not even sure what I was trying to type? Content? Information?

Wait. Answer!

wolfpack86 ,

I think the whole reason that they didn’t field a candidate against Braxton is precisely to get people casting doubt on the a validity of “won by default”.

There is a process to hold office, everyone has a pretty good idea of what that means. They can’t plead ignorance.

wolfpack86 ,

That was some of the most awkward writing I’ve ever seen.

wolfpack86 ,

But that’s also a target demographic here. Let’s say you talk with your partner and a proposal is coming in some near term future.

You go away for a weekend to the beach, but are not planning to propose–youre going to do that at the park where you first met or whatever.

SO sees this, gets excited, then get let down and isn’t ever in the same great spirits the rest of the day/weekend.

Still a chaos inducing opportunity

wolfpack86 ,

Same, and instead the day I need to migrate

wolfpack86 ,

Great, now do the phone browser

wolfpack86 ,

I was happy with chrome performance. After switching to FF, based on the accolades on Lemmy, I’ve been mostly happy… But fuck if there’s not major lag at times. It isn’t connection related, as I’ve immediately popped over to Chrome for that site and had no issue.

I’m not unhappy with Firefox, but I notice it’s presence, which is not what I want in a browser.

wolfpack86 ,

Idunno, i had mega lag after hitting enter on a duck duck go search in the address bar.
