Hey, y’all! Just another random, loudmouthed, opinionated, Southern-fried nerdy American living abroad.

I’m moving off kbin to lemmy, so I won’t be posting from here (unless kbin social gets it together).

If you’ve managed to miss anything about the bear sex until this post, I’m honestly kind of impressed.

If it’s the one I’m thinking of, where you quite literally barge in on…oh, I could have done without that one. Hooooboy.

Fast food spent millions fighting California bill holding them accountable for employee abuse (www.sacbee.com)

Fast food chains have spent millions this year on lobbying and advertising campaigns to stave off a bill that would hold corporate owners responsible for abuses that occur at franchise restaurants, according to a Sacramento Bee analysis.

I was so glad one of my high school teacher had us watch movies after we read a play. The best was her having us watch Throne of Blood after we finished Macbeth.

One of my coworkers got one recently and absolutely loves it. I really want one, but I’m waiting until the next version eventually comes out, since the current one is slightly too heavy for me to hold easily.

I figure they’re going to learn a lot from the current steamdeck and the next version will be amazing.

I’m not using lemmy and that link tried to download something, so I’ll stick with what I’m doing, thanks.

The thing is though, just today I saw in another group someone complaining that someone had posting an article to multiple groups…but it was the only time I had seen it. Another commenter mentioned how not everyone is in the same groups, and not everyone is seeing something multiple times. You might be in all those groups, but there will be folks like I was this morning who’s only following one of them and one sees one.

And the point is moot anyway because I can’t exactly use lemmy’s cross posting feature if I’m on kbin.

It doesn’t, no.

…ok, I have no idea how my swiping keyboard got “crime” instead of “everyone,” wow. That’s amazing.

And no worries!

SEO is what ruined Google and made it so you can’t actually find anything anymore.

Always, without fail, it is someone who has never posted a single news article that pops in to insist something isn’t “news.”

Post something you consider news, then.

I decided to stopped posting things about him after he made that laughable announcement that he’d pay the legal bills of anyone fired because of their tweets. He did it purely for attention, and I realized I don’t want to help give it to him anymore.

I made an exception for this article because it’s not about him, but about how writers can’t just keep uncritically covering every stupid thing he says.

Do you mean “noise”?

stopthatgirl7 OP ,
@stopthatgirl7@kbin.social avatar

They only “response” to their “It’s not news” according to this would be “nuh uh!”, which is less than helpful.

I say to post what they consider need instead because that adds more content to the site, instead of just adding pedantry.

That explains it.

One of 2023's most extreme heat waves is happening in the middle of winter (phys.org)

Temperatures in parts of Chile and northern Argentina have soared to 10°C–20°C above average over the last few days. Towns in the Andes mountains have reached 38°C or more, while Argentina's capital, Buenos Aires, saw temperatures above 30°C—breaking its previous August record by more than 5°C. Temperatures peaked at...

Upvoting is like favoriting something, but a boost bumps something up so it’s more likely to appear on the trending section.

So upvote means “I like it” and boosting means “more people should see it,” from what I understand.

I was so confused until I remembered my username.

Yeeeeeah, that’s awkward, I will admit.

Case in point, this post is the only one I’ve seen of this, so I must not be following any of the other communities/magazines the OP posted to.

All six individuals falsely accused have been Black. The Detroit Police Department runs an average of 125 facial recognition searches per year, almost exclusively on Black men, according to data reviewed by The Times.

Oh.

It's particularly risky for dark-skinned people. A 2020 post on the Harvard University website by Alex Najibi details the pervasive racial discrimination within facial recognition technology, highlighting research that demonstrates significant problems with accurately identifying Black individuals.

Oh. I see.

Originally, they did plan to release it on PS5 and PC. My guess is Sony made a timed exclusivity deal with them, which Sony had done with companies before. SE shout themselves in the foot by taking it.
