Hey, y’all! Just another random, loudmouthed, opinionated, Southern-fried nerdy American living abroad.

I’m moving off kbin to lemmy, so I won’t be posting from here (unless kbin social gets it together).

Either that, or they’ve got to lessen their requirements for parity.

Pastor alarmed after Trump-loving congregants deride Jesus' teachings as 'weak' (www.rawstory.com)

Evangelical Christian leader Russell Moore revealed this week that many evangelical pastors have become alarmed that their Trump-loving congregants have become so militant that they are even rejecting the teachings of Jesus Christ.In an interview with NPR, Moore said that multiple pastors had told h...

At the time, it was more the Romans. It’s only after Rome became Christian that the narrative shifted to blame the Jews for everything.

9to5 Mac is by virtue of the name very celebratory of Apple things.

Focus more on the tech saving people’s lives.

Tech like this helps people in more subtle ways, too.

I bought an Apple Watch to monitor my heart rate because a symptom of something I was diagnosed with was it could cause it to speed up. When my doctor decided to take me off the meds that kept it lowered, it was only thanks to the data from my watch that she put me back on it - she didn’t believe me when I said my heart rate felt like it had started going too fast and I was running out of breath too easily after she took me off them (she pointed to blood test numbers as “proof” I didn’t need them anymore), then I pulled out my phone and pulled up the app that collated the data from my watch, and showed her the giant spike in numbers after she took me off the meds.

Then she went, “…ah,” and put me back on the heart meds. She wouldn’t have otherwise.

Dragon Age: Origins walked so Baldur’s Gate 3 could dash (www.techradar.com)

Baldur’s Gate 3 isn’t the first successful attempt to marry cinematic aspirations with the traditional branching narratives and simulationist world-building of CRPGs. 2009’s Dragon Age: Origins had a very similar mission statement, offering a spiritual successor to BioWare’s earlier Baldur’s Gate titles long before...

What finally decided me to buy it was a comment section of some random YouTuber talking about the game, and people saying how much it reminded them of Dragon Age Origins.

That is an absolutely adorable story. I love that he got so into it.

It shouldn’t even let you enter in stuff like that, since it’s not food.

stopthatgirl7 OP ,
@stopthatgirl7@kbin.social avatar

Thing is, it shouldn’t let you put in ingredients that aren’t groceries. That’s an oversight they need to fix.

I guess we all knew this was coming after Netflix did it.

I read the headline and went “What the fuck.”

While reading the article, I kept going “What the fuck.”

After finishing reading it, I’m still just sitting here going “What the fuck.”

Just…wtf.

Thanks to living in a walkable city, I walk places a lot, and Apple Maps has been far superior to Google Maps for that. It’s got nice little touches, too, like covered roads being a slightly different color than regular roads.

That’s what gets me so much. Five years ago the mom was killed by random gun violence, and now the daughter.

I hope more broadcasters will follow the BBC’s example and start running their own Mastodon servers.

It would be nice if the BBC instance had more accounts, like for breaking news, though. I know they’re just testing the waters, but they need to try having accounts posting things folks are the most interested in.

That’s my feeling. They’ve created 4 accounts for things people can’t really interact with. Making a sports account on Mastodon, which is honestly most populated by tech nerds? Y’all. No. You’re doing it wrong.

Even one news account would be so much more useful.

Iirc, the big instance declaring immediately that it would defederate with them was one that’s very well known for being strict with moderation and had firm rules about anti-trans instances. Because the BBC has a history of being anti-trans, they defederated.

I had no role in the instance’s decision; don’t try to argue against their decision with me. I’ve got no say in it.

@stopthatgirl7@kbin.social avatar

Ok, going by this and your other reply to me, you’re looking for an argument, and I won’t be giving it to you.

I’d say get a Steam Deck instead. The screen is really nice and they’re comfortable to hold. Plus, she can hook up a keyboard, mouse, and monitor to it if she really needs a bigger screen.

Yeah, but that’s not what this tool was? It analyzed writing styles, not copied them.

stopthatgirl7 OP ,
@stopthatgirl7@kbin.social avatar

This doesn’t make anything from it, though. It gives you word counts, like how much passive voice was used and how many -ly adverbs. There’s nothing unique created from it.

That’s honestly the issue being pointed out here - people see “AI” and have knee jerk reactions, without seeing how is being used here. I’m completely against AI being used to make “art” or do writing, but that’s not what what this tool did at all. But folks assumed it did.

stopthatgirl7 OP , (edited )
@stopthatgirl7@kbin.social avatar

Stealing people’s hard work to spit out pale copies isn’t making art “accessible for the masses.” Artists worked hard to be able to produce the art AI spits out.

Ahh, ok, that line, or a variant of it, gets said by someone in the party. In mine, Lae’vel said, “Let’s not disturb a half-orc in the making.”

Say what you will about it, you can’t say that Harold Perrineau didn’t absolutely nail the role of Mercutio.
