Hey, y’all! Just another random, loudmouthed, opinionated, Southern-fried nerdy American living abroad.

I’m moving off kbin to lemmy, so I won’t be posting from here (unless kbin social gets it together).

I don’t live in the US, so it’s not US-only. Couldn’t tell you why your country can’t access it.

High up in the Himalayas between Tibet and India sits the small Buddhist country of Bhutan. Sometimes known as the world's last Shangri-La, this nation of snowy alpine peaks and untouched mountain streams has fewer than 700,000 people who call it home. And yet perhaps the most remote country in the world is on its way to being a...

That was less Jesus, and more Paul. Parl had some serious issues with women that he baked into Christianity. Jesus seemed pretty cool with women.

I’m on Mastodon. I saw the writing on the wall the moment Elon bought Twitter, and the instant the deal went through, I created a Mastodon account and set up a Discord server so I could invite friends from Twitter there, to help keep everyone in contact. I really lucked out because a lot of folks from the Twitter community I’m in jumped up Mastodon, and a lot to the same small server run by folks we know from Twitter. Folks who didn’t move over initially did make accounts, and have started posting more to Mastodon as Twitter gets worse.

Mastodon takes a lot of work to get really set up (not just the choosing a server thing, but actually having a lively enough feed that it doesn’t feel empty - you’ve legit got to be following several hundred people and following hashtags in order to get a really active feed, but once you hit that point, it’s great.

Notice how not a single woman there is wearing a university sweatshirt.

My point still stands. It didn’t touch her clothing to make it more “professional.” Just her race. It screwed up on multiple levels here.

It’s still pretty obvious. If there’s a random bad take in the middle of a sea of blue check bad takes, you know instantly that person is hiding their check. Otherwise, they wouldn’t get algorithmically pushed up with the other checks.
