R/pics is also refusing to go down without a fight, and I’m kind of loving watching all this from the sidelines.

Reddit already got caught using ChatGPT to astroturf in posts supporting the admins, so I wonder if some of the people the mods mentioned popping in for drama are actually ChatGPT.

I really just do not get why he thinks Elon Musk has it right idea, only isn’t going far enough. And it’s the board has just decided in for a penny, in for a pound and are determined to stick with him even if Reddit burns to the ground. I wonder what metrics they’re seeing that we aren’t, besides dollar signs.

If you haven’t played it yet, the Mass Effect trilogy. The Legendary Edition runs well on Steam Deck ( one of my coworkers is playing it now on his), and the story is really good.

Since you liked Alan Wake, also look at Control - it’s even set in the same universe as Alan Wake is, too.

If you like horror, there’s also Doki Doki Literature Club.

I almost didn’t post it because I suspected half the replies would be people complaining about Kotaku like it’s still 2014, and now I see I should have gone with my gut.

I live in Japan and have for years, and trust me, it’s not just games and anime - most media has a very objectifying way of looking at and treating women (even on the news, they’ll have older but and very young women for the presenters), and women are often written in a very two-dimensional way that seems very geared for how the writers WANT women to be, not how women actually are.

I’d say no, honestly. It’s just as matter of when Elon finally breaches the Trust Thermocline. That’s when people who had the most invested finally get fed up and leave. Judging by how many people who made Mastodon accounts but decided to start with Twitter are using them today, I’d say if he hasn’t breached it with this, it’s coming sooner rather than later.

I really like this interpretation of the Paradox of Intolerance:

The Paradox of Tolerance disappears if you look at tolerance, not as a moral standard, but as a social contract.
If someone does not abide by the contract, then they are not covered by it.
In other words: The intolerant are not abiding by the terms of the social contract of mutual tolerance. Since they have broken the terms of the contract, they are no longer covered by the contract, and their intolerance should NOT be tolerated.
