Lmao, thank you mods for proving my point that .ml is heavily censored.

socsa ,

The rule against mild criticism of the admins? It can’t be censorship if there are rules, right?

socsa ,

I don’t see it as left punching as much as calling out campists and .ml mods. I see it as holding up actual leftist values rather than forming a political philosophy around relitigating the cold war. I have never defended Israel, I have called out the issue with religious fundamentalism in this conflict. I have and will continue to call Israel an apartheid state.

Like I said, MLs literally cannot imagine the existence of political theory after 1924.

Also, my account is at least 5% femboy worship. At least do your homework.

socsa ,

Yes, Marx definitely wrote a lot about “western chauvinism.” Perhaps you mean “social chauvinism?” Because it’s definitely very confusing language for the under studied. Perhaps you should pick up some German language.

Again, I just can’t help but be struck by the stark chasm between this liturgical internet “leftism,” which seems confused between the principals of pragmatic worker liberation, versus the fantasy that Lenin’s autocracy ever achieved anything noteworthy. But I guess populist fan service gets engagement, so who cares about results, right?

socsa ,

I’ll let my partner know that you think they are a fetish. They’ll get a kick out of it. If I was you I’d probably find your comment offensive.

socsa ,

I’m sorry, but air fryers, and counter appliances in general, are degeneracy and that is a very serious position, thank you very much.

socsa ,

Based on how …certain… Lemmy instances have handled themselves, the intention to deal with “Wikipedia content moderation” here is almost certainly not to make a freer version of Wikipedia, but to make heavily censored content enclaves with the same obvious editorial restrictions concerning certain topics you find on certain large instances.

socsa ,

I mean we have seen how the Lemmy devs approach certain topics, and it is definitely not with a preference for openness or free exchange of ideas. There are certain topics here which have a hair trigger for content removal and bans, for extremely petty and minor “transgressions,” so the motivation here seems pretty transparent.

socsa ,

Being in the same room with a fascist is never ok.

socsa ,

I think about how things actually were 50 years ago, and how every generation since the dawn of written history has the same exact end times mythology and then correctly conclude that I am merely suffering from the same delusion as nearly every human prior to me.

Also I own a glock and three bullets.

socsa ,

Even in the US, there are tons of people who can openly live their lives who could not even 20 years ago. OP’s conjecture reeks of privilege.

socsa ,

And this has been happening for as long as human history has been written down. If you study anthropology, literally the first thing they teach you is that every generation of humans has said the same thing, to the point where some of the earliest written history we have is basically some version of this exact post.

Yet now I shit in a climate controlled box with no predators around.

socsa ,

Because if there’s one thing lemmy loves, it’s intellectually lazy hyperbole.

socsa ,

And get banned for questioning orthodox bullshit

socsa ,

Holy shit who gives a fuck

socsa ,

Nah, they will just get mad and still buy the MacBook because their beliefs are not actually sincere.

socsa ,

WTF now I love Nestle

socsa , (edited )

Leftist unity, but only for the authoritarian left. Hexbears either intentionally ignore or are not aware of the academic case for democratic socialism or other moderate/libertarian left ideas. You just redefine them as liberalism because actually acknowledging that these ideas might liberate workers faster than the often failed journey through autocracy, is very inconvenient for campism.

socsa ,

So you agree that there is a strong argument for Russia seeking genocide in Ukraine as well, right?

socsa , (edited )
socsa , (edited )

Feels like ad hominem. The point is that you are unwilling to even engage with the idea that Russia seeks to eliminate Ukrainian identity, an idea which is reported by a number of primary Russian sources in a variety of media. Putin himself expresses frequent open skepticism of Ukrainian nationality. Not to even mention the internationally recognized mass deportation of children.

I won’t argue that Israel isn’t an apartheid state engaging in collective punishment. Meanwhile you will turn yourself in circles to defend Russian aggression, and for the life of me I can figure out what that has to do with liberating workers. It just feels less like intellectual honesty and more like campism. But then somehow I’m the brainwashed goon for actually attempting to maintain something resembling ideological consistency.

socsa ,

Man if we could only discuss actual politics instead of edgy teenage revolution fetish.

socsa ,

Lemmy is just as much an information warfare platform as anything on Reddit. The Israel/Hamas coverage has confirmed that pretty conclusively.

socsa ,

The thing about this is fuck all Americans to death amirite?

socsa ,

Sectarian leftist nutters who seem to be extremely overconfident in their amateurish view of philosophy and politics. “The entire world and all of contemporary history is a conspiracy to discredit Lenin” is honestly a pretty shocking view of the world.

socsa ,

For those who can’t be bothered to spend 30 seconds checking if a lemmygrad user is full of shit, this was my response to racism against Koreans (literally calling them dogs), since I know I’d be banned (again) if I was too mean and called a privileged hexbear poster racist directly.

socsa ,

Sure, the soul of every nation is tarnished by the sins of their fathers. I have no argument with this. That doesn’t excuse the use of racist language or symbology, as the point can easily be made without such denigration.

This is especially ironic because the hexbears are typically falling over themselves to show how egalitarian and tolerant they are, and at least in my view, such language makes that effort seem particularly hollow.

socsa ,

You don’t think calling someone a dog is bigoted? Talk about bad faith.

socsa ,

So for the record, the person who trolled my profile and posted a screenshot trying to make me seem racist, only to get pilloried by additional context, before changing the subject entirely, before finally resorting to his own bizarre ethnic slurs, is the one arguing in good faith. While I am the one pushing “gotcha liberalism” or whatever?

You do you, I guess.

socsa ,

There are still far too many system components which run with spooky elevated privileges. Don’t believe me? Try nuking permissions on Windows update or activation nagware, disconnect from the internet and see how long those changes persist. Sometimes it is a few reboots.

This is a fundamentally insecure security framework, which no amount of glue or sandboxing can fix.

socsa ,

Wait until FOSS nerds learn that the NSA and DoD are some of the top upstream contributors to FOSS projects.

socsa ,

But Infinity War was the better movie. Is this still up for discussion?

socsa ,

Rushed, and yet still somehow way too long.

socsa ,

Is racism against Koreans allowed in Lemmy?

socsa ,

It’s more like money isn’t the only part of happiness.

socsa ,

You get to a point where basic needs and standard luxuries don’t move the needle and all the things you can’t afford are just exponentially more expensive. This phase literally never ends. There are things Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk desire that they cannot afford. But even if you are making like 200k or so, “normal” living cost quickly become trivial, and it becomes about how much you have for crazy vacations and home upgrades. But you can be perfectly happy “just” getting a high end item and not a super lux item if you are a well adjusted person

socsa ,

This is the answer. There are many tricks and coping strategies, but at the end of the day there is no shortcut. Once you truly decide to stop, you just stop doing it.

socsa ,

The bulk rice aisle in the grocery store.

socsa ,

I mean you ever been to a wedding where nobody is drinking or dancing and everyone gets bored of smalltalk by 8pm?

socsa ,

I feel like I might have legitimately helped as well by mocking them incessantly for being campists and not socialists

socsa ,

What I’m seeing is that I should murder people who eat cake?

socsa ,

Butter has always been an order of magnitude cheaper than actual olive oil in most places I think. Maybe that’s different in OO producing regions idk

socsa ,

The value of tokens on the Blockchain are ostensibly related to the value of the apps that stake/work supports. NFTs were just another attempt at creating some real app/service value which didn’t have all the difficulty or intrinsic value problems that being a payment processor does.

The core problem is the same though. Speculative value of the tokens can’t really exceed the actual intrinsic value of the underlying Blockchain apps. For such apps to actually work as intended, more thought needs to go into anti-speculation mechanisms.

socsa ,

Practicing what exactly? Losing brain cells?

If it comes down to there being any form of political power being dictated by such single combat, society will already be irredeemably fucked.

These people are just squirting toxic masculinity onto each other. Who gives a shit?

socsa ,

Old man yells at cloud

socsa ,

Tbh, at least with phone calls I don’t have to force myself to make just the right amount of intermittent eye contact, and then get so distracted by that cognitive process that I lose the conversation.

socsa ,

It’s 9000 pounds and is faster than 90s supercars. It’s complete lunacy, and I’m actually quite scared of how much more dangerous it’s going to make driving.
