Skibidi toilet is actually one of the first gen alpha memes, not gen z.

I am a younger millenial and didnt have a cell phone until they got smart but most of the people I knew in highschool had blackberries or their knockoffs which had full keyboards. I still passed the capatcha though.

saigot ,

Meta drove me out of vr. Still quite bitter about it.

saigot ,

It will be interesting to see if tiktoks newest big selling point (relatively free from US influence) will be able to offset it’s loss in users.

The Obama AMA was in 2012, That to me is the turning point for reddit, it’s when it’s population exploded overnight (which meant old users could no longer enforce cultural norms for the platform), it’s when news media really started taking the platform seriously and I think when a lot of the political influence of reddit was realized.

saigot ,

IOT devices shouldn’t connect to wifi. ZWave or zigbee is much better suited to IOT stuff, but it seems to mostly get adopted in very limited, locked down proprietary shit like Hue Lights.

If you can tell the contribution is ai generated, it’s not good enough

A face to face would be fine, I just find that the shitty quality of a phone call and the fact I can’t see their face or body language completely destroys my ability to both understand and be understood.l and especially my ability to judge their emotional state. Unless I have both written down what I need to communicate and write down everything they communicate I will remember nothing that happened. These aren’t problems I have in a voip call at all, I spend all day in teams calls.

I still make them from time to time, but I will jump at any option to not have a phone call even at extreme inconvenience.

saigot ,

ccan you link the higher wuality one here in a comment, I don’t think It’s propagated.

I like this graphic, some of my favourites:

git log --oneline is super useful for getting just a list of title of commits and nothing else

git bisect is a little known but extremely useful git archaeology command that automates binary searching for a regression.

I have my alarm clock require solving 5 arithmetic problems before it cancels (e.g (16*8 +10-6)/6) . It makes me alert way quicker and now I’m pretty quick at mental math.

I got a new phone sent to my work once, left my old one at work and didn’t turn the alarm off, my coworkers were more than a little annoyed!

You appear to be able to download the apk from here: sleep.urbandroid.org/more/download/

Not sure it’ll run without play services though.

ok

Hard to say without some indication of what sort of thing you’d like. Are you looking for something to just power trip and blow off steam, are you looking for strategy games that make you think, narrative experiences, dexterity/reaction time challenges etc etc etc? But knowing absolutely nothing here’s 3 good games:

Stardew Valley has native Linux support. It’s a game about farming. There’s not really any consequences for doing things slowly so take your time and enjoy the game.

factorio is a strategy game essentially about optimizing supply lines. Programmer types tend to find it extremely addicting.

Baulder’s gate 3 is a Turn based RPG based on Dungeon’s and Dragons. It may be a little difficult for beginners especially if you haven’t played DnD but it is also one of the best games to have come out recently having swept all the award shows for both it’s great story telling and run mechanics.

If there’s anyone in your life who really likes gaming asking them for games you can play together or that they can watch/guide you through would be a great idea.

saigot ,

Yes but they also test the blood and will call you if they have reason to believe you are positive.

Rizz = charisma = good flirting. A rizzler is a person who flirts well.

Gyat = Girl Your Ass is Thick. And is also used as an exclamation upon seeing a thick ass and a term for a thick ass in general.

So rizzler gyat is a flirtatious girl with a thick ass.

Also of note “sticking out your gyat for the rizzler” is the song that blew up those words would mean “sticking out your butt for the charismatic guy”

Iran said that after tonight’s attack, the “matter can be deemed concluded” unless there is more violence.

So hopefully not something that will escalate further

About 31 people were treated for anxiety or injuries they sustained while heading to a protected area when sirens sounded.

Fucking lol.

I’m pretty sure the enterprise version of Windows does not and will never have ads. So not super relavent when talking about a transition to Linux in an office setting.

saigot ,

You can remove the stock ticker even on home edition, on enterprise you can make it go away by default for new installs as well. And with enterprise, you can disable edge entirely and unlike home edition it won’t re-enable on upgrade.

saigot ,

That’s great, companies dont care though so long as they can control it.

…windows.com/…/announcing-windows-11-insider-prev…

we are now trying out recommendations to help you discover great apps from the Microsoft Store under Recommended on the Start menu. This will appear only for Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel in the U.S. and will not apply to commercial devices (devices managed by organizations). This can be turned off by going to Settings > Personalization > Start and turning off the toggle for “Show recommendations for tips, app promotions, and more”.

I genuinely think he’s trying to scuttle the site to hide negative press for him and other billionaires.

Sure he could have just shut it down immediately as he bought it but if he did that, everyone would go to a single alternative, doing it slowly means that the people leaving go to a myriad of smaller (weaker, less likely to survive and less influencial) sites instead.

saigot ,

I find it very useful for cleaning as well, scraping off stuck in stuff

What does it do and what does it look like?

saigot ,

The classic would be fight club, I think even the author has said they enjoyed some of the symbolism that was added.

saigot ,

I liked most of the books, but I hate the long songs. Maybe this is a hot take but authors should not put in songs longer than a few lines.

saigot ,

I think the whole point was that Eragon wasn’t right for Arya, I thought that was quite refreshing and a pretty important message for adolescents. It’s a pretty big deal, imo that they don’t end up together at the end, and eragon has to get over it. I think thats an original part of an overall cliche but enjoyable book. I do agree with roram and Katrina’s plot though.

saigot ,

Just saying friend your comments come off much more hostile than theirs.

Google did this because a settlement with getty

arstechnica.com/…/internet-rages-after-google-rem…

Almost two years ago, Getty Images filed antitrust charges against Google in the EU, taking issue with the company’s image scraping techniques to display image search results. Earlier this week, Google and Getty Images announced a partnership and Getty withdrew its charges against Google. Changes like the removal of direct image links were apparently part of the agreement.

Limestone is super basic so I would pair with something acidic, I think white wines in general are more acidic so imma agree with op.

saigot ,

Wait why are we mad at Calvi and Hobbs?

saigot ,

But why do we want to make memes making fun of Calvin if they didn’t do anything wrong?

saigot ,

Doomerism is the result of fossil fuel propaganda. The open strategy of O&G right now is to convince the public that no progress has been made, the world is already over and it’s not worth trying to fix.

saigot ,

ok I got a bike lane put in in my city and bike ridership is up 15%.

I gave my mum a Palak Paneer recipe and now she eats it once a week

My district saw a 10% swing in the last election and surprise elected a green candidate.

I think your the delusional one if you think change isn’t possible. just a few years ago conservatives were hoarding incandescent bulbs.

saigot ,

More bike lanes -> more bikers -> more people voting for bike lanes. And then suddenly gm is marketing their fancy overpriced bike to you instead of their car.

saigot ,

And if your trying then you aren’t a doomer.

saigot ,

Can’t hold a pitchfork while your stuck inside your hummer.

I’m a software engineer. I have an ultrawide for my personal stuff (a odyssey g9) , for productivity it functions as 2 27in displays side by side, usually youtube/twitch and whatever task I should be doing. When I game the wide aspect ratio is nice. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it, but it is nice.

Above the ultrawide I have 2 27in for work. kinda hard to say what they usually have open but heres a handful of scenarios:

  • meeting notes / meting presentation
  • Jira Ticket / remote to the test system
  • monitoring my code compiling / team chat
  • IDE / Documents or chat
  • debugger / notes

but really any combination of 2 tasks (usually one being monitored or referenced and one being worked on). I have been thinking about getting another vertical monitor exclusively for chat. Having chat already open and responding breaks my concentration a lot less than having to pull up the chat over top of whatever I was doing. It’s definitely diminishing returns

Some other display topologies I see used:

  • one coworker uses a large TV (I think 60in) and then partitions the display into various virtual multi-monitor setups depending on his needs.
  • My wife (a dev ops engineer) has a 30in in the middle and 2 verticals at the side
saigot ,

One of the big changes is in fugitive emmissions basically leaky natural gas pipes), we found that fugitive emmissions were much (2-3x in north america) greater than expected, making natural gas as bad as coal in some scenarios. Turns out having o&g self report with no oversight leads to them underestimating their numbers.

saigot ,

They killed the vertical task bar with that update, which seems like such a pointless thing to disable.

saigot ,

It’s a lot, but less than most single pot plants will yield (typically 100-200g, but sometimes a lot more), I imagine that might be annoying for people who grow their own, but then again I don’t see how it can really be enforced.

saigot ,

IMO one of the cool things about Lemmy is that it could be both. I can imagine some instances keeping a high barrier of entry and strict posting rules, but federate with more open, mass appeal instances that your aunt joins. I would be surprised if it ever catches on in that way though.

saigot ,

Mouse without borders is better than every physical kvm I’ve ever used, it’s magic.

saigot ,

I’m pretty sure the mtx for dragons dogma are all 1 time dlc bought on the steam page just like the horse Armour.

saigot ,

Isn’t this the same anticheat that just caused that big Apex Hack? Seems like… poor timing
