The CPC still maintains a lot of influence over companies even when they’re getting their funding from private industry as part of their “politics in command” strategy for controlling market forces. We’ll see how it plays out.

This is such a stupid concept.

Every nation with currency sovereignty manipulates its currency. The Federal Reserve itself is constantly going on about the things it’s doing to change the value of the dollar and trying to address trade deficits! Yet if someone else does it it’s “unfair”

Also, how the fuck is Germany on the list? They’re on the Euro! They can’t even control their own currency! What manipulation?

This is literally just a list of countries that are doing well and America is mad about it.

Do you really think the US doesn’t view the world solely through the lens of rivalry? That’s the underlying logic of capitalism: there are only winners and losers. Cooperation and partnership are temporary arrangements of convenience, they can always change and lists like this are one of the ways the US determines who’s next.

That’s why they use such an inflammatory term like “manipulator” - it’s meant to intimidate.

It doesn’t matter if any of them present a legitimate threat, all that matters is they’re in the way.

Can someone explain me USA obsession with prom and similar school rituals?

I just don’t get it… Why is that important, especially for kids now, that feel like they need to do a YouTube video asking for a date or doing some meme stuff. Some teens even hire the hottest celebrity or ask them to appear in their prom? This is so bizarre for me, all that just for a frivolous night....

A school dance isn’t just a date, it’s a social event. The US doesn’t really have a lot of public social rituals, so a school dance is a unique kind of social experience that doesn’t really exist outside of school. It probably wasn’t as big when there were town festivals and church holiday events where everyone knew each other, but over time the school dances have become the only thing left.

Don’t act like being German gives you some kind of unique perspective. Hitler was inspired by the US exterminating it’s Native population and by the US reservation system.

No, I’m implying that the ruling class has unique guilt and responsibility, which is nontransferable to their subjects. I never said we have no responsibility. I only contend that holding us equally accountable is mystification; it obscures the uniquely horrible actions of the ruling class. They’re the ones who deserve to be tried for their crimes, after all.

By flattening society, by holding the least of us accountable for the crimes of our rulers, you actually make it harder to hold anyone accountable for anything at all.

Or do you think the Red Army should have executed all Germans because a minority of them voted for Hitler?
