They couldn’t figure out how to compile for more than 32 bits

onelikeandidie ,

Best reply in the thread, thanks for the good explanation

onelikeandidie ,

I am running manjaro with a AMD 7900XT GPU, i needed to do a lot of work to get my windows vm to display correctly and it does not perform well in terms of graphics inside the VM. Personally I keep a dual boot with Win11 debloated to run games that require kernel level anticheat. With that said, if you wanna know if it’s a good idea to switch, protondb.com gives you what to expect from your games on Linux!

Thought I wouldn’t find another tm player in here

onelikeandidie ,

You know you can use Vencord or BetterDiscord to do this for free right? You just get the magic-upload plugin and you’re good

onelikeandidie ,

If you’re on Android, you can use Aliucord with the UITH plugin

Password manager users feeling like untouchable gods after this one.

me with my yubikey

Got a couple of keys, best thing I ever got tbh

Kdenlive is great, I’ve been editing a lot of my videos on there and some shorts on YouTube. It’s got a pretty unappealing UI but one you get to know and figure out where everything is you can get some content out :)

China launches world’s fastest internet with 1.2 terabit per second link, can transmit 150 4K movies a second (www.firstpost.com)

China launches world’s fastest internet with 1.2 terabit per second link, can transmit 150 4K movies a second::China is claiming that they now have the world’s fastest internet. Their new network transmits 1.2 terabits per second. That’s over 1200 gigabits, per second. At this speed, the network will be able to send 150 4K...

EasyAntiCheat is the biggest problem on Linux, I have to boot to my windows install just to play The Finals and Hell Let Loose… It’s such a shame cuz I think the developers can enable a setting to let it run on Linux but then that would mean they would actually have to support players who are playing on Linux and that’s too much work for big corpos

onelikeandidie ,

Omg it wasn’t like this a while ago, I can’t belive it! I’m going to reinstall it to play as soon as I can. Needing to reboot to windows just to play is the reason why I play Battlefield 1 a lot more. Thanks :)

onelikeandidie ,

I second this, I use syncthing for phone camera to pc and laptop and have never had a problem. It’s almost instant too, it’s kinda nuts that it doesn’t even need Internet to connect between devices. I a world where everything needs an account, and tracking, syncthing is a simple grace I take for granted

onelikeandidie ,

You can make it so that you can have a folder ignored by your syncthing on your computer called something like backup but have your phone still recognise that folder as not ignored. Then when you want to delete a photo in your phone, just move it to that folder, wait until it syncs and then delete it. Your computer should not delete the photo since it ignores any changes in that folder. I’ll test this when I get home if you would like?

Thanks for sharing, it looks like a good desktop wallpaper

Where is this from? Did you post this yourself OP? Just wanna know the sauce.

Who here uses a less popular Linux distribution? What made you choose it?

Hey fellow Linux enthusiasts! I’m curious to know if any of you use a less popular, obscure or exotic Linux distribution. What motivated you to choose that distribution over the more mainstream ones? I’d love to hear about your experiences and any unique features or benefits that drew you to your chosen distribution.

I used Void with xfce for a year and I feel like it was the best “new” distro I’ve ever had my hands on. It was clean, efficient and I loved initd and xbps.

onelikeandidie ,

I counter this, I have a V1 and have only used the foil DYI method and it works flawlessly every time I needed to do it again.

onelikeandidie ,

True, it is not worth the risk. But if this person is not in a country where you can easily get a jig legally then they can at least try the foil method.

Distro for experienced Linux user

Hi, I’m looking for a distro for my laptop. My first distro was Pop!_OS, then I switched to Fedora, then Arch for a year and 2 months ago I switched to Fedora Silverblue, because I wanted to try immutable distro that relies on containers and flatpaks to be usefull. Silverblue is great but not so much for me, its not flexible...

onelikeandidie ,

Void Linux was my daily driver for around a year and it was fast, really fast, and had a lot of tinkerability. I highly recommend it.

onelikeandidie ,

Oops, you’re right, I read as the opposite!

onelikeandidie ,

I mean, reading the comments it seems like it can be disabled through environment variables. For vulkan at least.

onelikeandidie ,

this comment implies there’s is an environment variable to toggle vsync.

onelikeandidie ,

Import? Arrrr, we better plunder those guides for ourselves

All I wanted was a simple search. (lemmy.world)

This is ridiculous. It’s taken me a long time to switch to DuckDuckGo because when I get comfortable with something, it’s really difficult for me to switch, but if they’re going to totally change it (even if it appears to only be for certain search terms now), this is the last straw....

onelikeandidie ,

Although I think duckduckgo did a better job, I still don’t understand what is infuriating about this one. Google Search just wants to priorize showing you an excerpt from what you are looking for in case you are looking for a definition.

onelikeandidie ,

Can confirm, sudo apt install firefox added a new star

onelikeandidie ,

I also recommend forgejo, I’ve been using it for a while for my personal projects and the ui is still beautiful while being a simple git server at the same time.

onelikeandidie ,

I’m guessing you’re using opencart cuz I’ve been working with an old codebase for around a year and I would love if any code analysis or intelisense actually worked… on xml files… with php in them… with javascript in php variables… with calls to php inside xml files…

onelikeandidie ,

I’m sorry to ask and I don’t want to be rude, does your cat not have front legs? It looks like it on the picture. It also looks like that is an impenetrable fort

onelikeandidie ,

I’ve never noticed that before. You have ruined my life

onelikeandidie OP ,

I went through on gimp just blurring every name 😅

onelikeandidie OP ,

I just checked in Threads, Unread and Later, nothing shows up.

onelikeandidie OP ,

Clearing my notifications on GNOME actually worked? You’re right, it doesn’t sync to the notification center.

onelikeandidie OP ,

Thanks, a previous reply hinted at this as well and it worked. It’s a shame it doesn’t sync, I used discord and other apps and they all sync properly. I edited my post accordingly.

onelikeandidie ,

Don’t they use tailwindcss at twitter? Must be easier to remove dim mode

onelikeandidie ,

Yooo, can I have a source for this? Just for research purposes

onelikeandidie ,

I was about to type the same, I use syncthing all the time for other things but it’s literally the best way to keep my passwords on my laptop, phone and desktop, never passes any cloud service and then I just use KeePassXC and KeePassDX with a YubiKey to make sure everything is top notch.

onelikeandidie ,

Basically, my password manager only opens when I this USB stick plugged in called a yubikey (and also a password) if you are missing either the password or the yubikey then you can’t open my passwords. It’s a sure way to know that it’s you! P.S.: Always have a copy of your yubikey, don’t wanna lose it and lose your passwords…
